Well, after a few posts asking the competitors how they achieved their nails, thought it would be a good chance to see how this tutorial malarkey worked, lol!
First of all, I chose an enamel that was "exactly" the same colour as the dress I chose
Owing to my poor photography skills, my poor Paint Shop Pro skills and my general computer ineptness it ended up a different shade when I combined the two pix! This will not happen to you if you can work a Sinclair spectrum!!!!
Any whoo! Paint the nail in the chosen colour. Separate the layers of cosmetic tissue (or bog roll) into one layer.
Paint the paper with 3 or 4 coats of enamel. What you want, is something that you can "scrunch" but not too hard where it cracks.
Once your paper is dry, cut it into strips, the size of tip I used, needed strips of about .75mm. Crumple them in your fingers, don't be too gentle! You need to make them look like material, so gently crush n straighten, n if you're not happy, do it again.
On something non-stick, a performance form is perfect, place a small bead of L&P. Leave it till it's just seconds from setting, nudge around the perimeter to give you a perfect round. Try to get it perfect before it sets, filing will never give you a soft rounded shape. Once set, paint with your enamel.
Putting everything together is like Blue Peter! Use any adhesive (this is not a nail that is meant to be worn! Longevity is not really an issue!) I used GelBond cos this is what I found had the best setting time for re-positioning. Adhere the enamelled tissue at the top corners on the underside of the tip. Don't try the next stage until the adhesive has set.... Bring the lengths of paper around the front and cross in the middle. Scrunch into position. Once you are happy with this, a couple of dots of GelBond will hold everything in position. Once this is set, adhere your acrylic button.
Once you are sure that all your adhesive is set,re-arrange to your hearts content!
Hope this will give you some ideas to use things other than "nail art" materials, n above all have fun!
