ok this will be fun explaining as i am not good at all, lol. Ill miss the basic prep, tips etc. i applied clear acrylic all over the nail, then i dipped my brush into liquid then i picked a small bead 'white opaque powder' and put small beads around the free edge 'where the red went after' as in the picture, when that dried i applied red acrylic powder over the beads and some how managed to make a smile line, zone 3 i applied clear acrylic powder and once they dried i filed the nails down until you saw the white dots and the nail was smooth and even of a natural contour, then got my client to wash her hands and i applied clear gel and cured it under the lamp then cuticle oil then done . God that was hard and straight to the point and maybe not even made sense. lol.

The second image is a much more flattering image than the first.

There is nothing really desperately wrong apart from the proportion of the nail plate to the free edge. You could say the free edge colour is a bit too long or the nail bed is a bit too short .. take your pick. I personally would have elongated the nail bed to give these nails a make over, but you can just as easily restore the balance by shortening the free edge a tad.

You can also do this design in a much easier way than you chose to do it. The smile lines would have been easier to do and you would have avoided all that filing. However you ended up with a good result and I hope your client was happy.

Thank you for your comment i appreciate it . Yes my client was really happy with the result and i was, however yes i agree i could of elongated the nail bed but i am not confident in doing so 'i need further training in that' what classes would cover that does anybody know? also you mentioned above about been easier to do, any chance of hearing it or a little lesson . Thank you x

The class you are after for that would be based on custom blend which S2 offer as a one to one. hth's

i like these, the design looks great.
i agree with gigi in that the only thing that stands out to me is the ratio of nail be to free edge isnt quite right, but as gigi said you can correct this by taking some of the length of but i would have just used a coverage powder to elongate the nail beds.
you seemed to go through alot to get this design if i did something like this and im sure other geeks amy also have a different was is i would have done the pink first then applied the white dots using a brush on white gel and a dotting tool and continued doing zone 2 & 3 and then apply my finish gel this would have been a much easier way imo but you still got great results doing it the way you did.x

A way that I have seen it done if you have a nail drill, is to apply your pink and then drill some holes into the pink acrylic free edge, I wouldnt go all the way through I don't think its necessary. Apply white acrylic over the holes and press the white acrylic to fill in the holes, buff of the white to reveal the pink with white polka dots.

I think they're sweet, I luurrve polka dots, however, I agree that the ratio is a bit out which, as has been said, is easily fixable.
I also would have done them the same way as Tracey Lousie, thin layer of pink first, then I would've done my white dots, flattened them out a little to keep them thin (I use l&p) then clear over the whole nail, then either buffed to a high shine or glossed with gel.

thank you all, i will try it that way next time, they did take me a long time to do them i think 2 hours, lol. from start to finish. About courses sorry to sound thick but who is S2? lol, one to one sounds good i learn more. I saw my client today and she told me a lot of people commented on her nails, on how nice they were, at least she is happy. But i will work on perfecting my nails as i would love to be like most of the nail techs on here, x

I prefer the second pic; I don't think the first one was doing justice to your lovely nails, as it wasn't in sharp focus.

But, the bottom line is that I'd love that sort of design on my nails, and I think you've done it great!

Apply your smile line in red or what ever colour you choose then just before it sets up push some thing round into the red to create the round indentations,
a cocktail stick with the point filed off works well or an orange stick or both if you want different sizes ,
then apply your white into the holes,

you can do the same with a straw so that you get circle indentations to fill with a different colour, hth

Sweet Squared (S2 as they are known on here) is the company that does all the CNDtraining and products. You can find them at http://www.sweetsquared.com

If you are not already CND trained you may find you have to do their L+P conversion before doing custom blend one to one.

I use CND products just didn't know them as S2, lol. I've done their conversion class in Gel but not acrylic, but i use both systems, will they still allow me to do the acrylic without the conversion class? and would i still need to go to leeds or is their somewhere i can go around me , maybe i wish is the answer!! lol. Thank you
