Minx advice ... - 19-10-09, 09:31 PM

Hi

I've recently started thinking about having a go at minxing ..... just a couple of questions ...

Whats the opionion of most ... are they straight forward to get to grips with ???????

Ive read on here that there are on -line tutorials covering the minx application, anyone know where I can find these??

Do I have to have an infra red lamp in order to minx? .... im just thinking if I buy the lamp but can't get on with them then i've wasted money that I haven't actually gor right now!!!
Can a hairdryer or something else be used in the short term till i've got to grips with them and im sure I want to offer these as a service???

Also 1 last thing, anyone know if s2 are still offering free minx training in London????????? I will give Ketan a call tomorrow but just thought i'd ask .....

Thanks

Tracey

Hi Tracey, when i did my Minx course i found the lamp huge and i got quite hot myself, so all i bought was an infa red bulb from the petshop which fitted inthe lamp i have on my nail station, which does the job just as well

Be carefull with putting an infa red lamp n your normal desk lamp.
You could end up with fire hazard and a melted mess on your desk, not to mention insurance invalidation.
Not advisable IMO.
My normal desk lamp heats up my minx sufficiantly for me to apply the minx and it's stays put

Thanks....what about the use of a hair dryer ??????

I have a lamp on my desk, but its just a day light lamp which doesn't give out any heat... so cant see how that could work.

Also ... anyone point me in the right direction as to where the on line tutorials are for minx application ....

I think in the long term a hairdryer is out of the question but as you said if you want to buy some Minx and try it out on yourself, I'm sure you'll get on fine. I can just imagine it though, Minx sheet at the other end of the room and those little bits you cut out, you'll be finding them everywhere!

Mmmmm can see that happening as well!!!!

Well, have arranged for some training with ketan and from that I'll hopefully gage how hard or difficult it is and then decide if I want to go ahead.
I guess like with everything it ll take some time to get used to but as it's such a great product reckon I'll be hooked as soon as I see the demo!!!

Thanks again all.x

Hi,
I have the complete Minx kit & it does include the infra red lamp.

All I can say is, if you want to be & look professional - then use the professional kit to do the job - I'd be embarrassed to use a hairdryer on a client I was minxing!
When all said & done, I know the initial outlay is expensive, but IMO if you buy cheap you buy twice - plus if you are offering a professional service, then should you not use professional products for that?
For those of you who are using your desk lamp to do the job, well good for you that it works ok, my desk lamp is also quite hot, but I have the Minx lamp for minxing - I think it shows I'm a professional.
Using the correct equipment sets the service apart from the - DIY brigade - if you are using the correct equipment, then is shows it's not a 'home use' product apart from the professionalism using the correct gear gives you.
If you want your client to go buy the stuff off an auction site & then get the hairdryer out - then using your hairdryer will help them along the way!

Having said all that, when I sampled Minx (as in one set) I used a hairdryer on MYSELF, to see if it was something I could use for my business. I bought the kit, which included the lamp.

Online tut's are available on Minxnails.com

Oh and once you get your infrared heat lamp you can use it to dry your Heat Dry top coat. It's brilliant for that and clients love it, especially on their toes!! It's so warm and cosy!
