Second post in an hour. lol.

Ok looking at nail extension courses (expensive i might add!). I have a choice of three courses.... Gel, Acrylics or Fibreglass.

I am totally lost. I know there are pros and cons to each, I am drawn to the fibreglass as they seem less damaging but then I would like to go for the most popular treatment.
So my question is which is the best?

I can highly recomend CND the training is second to none, the product is superior IMO and the aftercare and service that comes from Sweetsquared is unbeatable.

Most clients generally want L&P (Acrylic) or Gel enhancements.

There is always a benefit to being diversified. Not every client can wear the same enhancements. There is a benefit to every product. No one product damages the nail, that is due to improper application and knowledge of the nail tech. IMO here are some other considerations to think about in picking which line you want to learn -

L/P - isn't the easiest product to learn, takes a lot of practice and the odor can be an issue w/o proper ventilation.

Gel - if you use file off gel, dust is a major issue as it is very fine and there will be alot of it. So you will need some kind of vaccum system. Replacing bulbs can get expensive.

Fiberglass/silk - does not hold up well on people who are in water a lot. Strength can be an issue if client is tough on enhancements.

Acrylic Dip System - also doesn't hold up well in water.

These are the cons, they also have pros to using each system, but just thought I'd share some things to consider that you might not have considered. I am sure there will be some who will disagree, so this information is based on my experience.

All of the above! I always recommend to my students that they master one kind of enhancement before they move on to another. I recommend l&p first because it takes the most skill and once you have that mastered, gel is a snap! I also teach fiberglass, but there isn't much call for it. I just like making sure my students (and clients) have many service options to give their clientele.

As for fibreglass being less damaging - none of these products will damage the nail plate if applied by a trained, licensed professional.
