Jessica products and heat don't mix. - 26-10-09, 11:46 AM

Hi, this is my first thread. I am loving this site. I am hoping I can get some help with my dilemma.
I live in spain and have been using the Jessica products, which I love, but they are not very good in the heat at all. I have to keep them in the fridge and then in a cool box but within 15 mins of using them they start to go gluppy. They are fine now as it is not so hot but I started to dread doing a manicure's or pedicure's as I found it quite stressful. Could you give me some advise of what to do or of a brand that might work better in such hot weather?
Many thanks

Have you tried contacting you rep or head office itself for advice?

Funnily enough, I've also found that regardless of which brand I use the white never stays as thin as the other colours. Wedding Gown is my favourite Jessica white for french as well!

Hi Im in Ibiza and a lot of my clients want to have their nails done outside. They are great to use now as it's a lot cooler. It could be that I just need to get used to the texture of Jessica and get over my fear of using them!

When I went for my Jessica training last June, the polishes were actually in a fridge in the training room!

Jessica polishes are waxy, so I guess because of their consistency, they get gloopy very quickly. This is one of the reasons why you dont hold the bottle whilst you are polishing as well, as this would warm up the polish!

I would phone the rep to let her know whats happening to you though. For now, its best to store them in the fridge.

I've worked in a salon where they only stocked the smaller bottle of polishes which rarely got the chance to go gloopy as they were used before!

Same with whites, smaller bottles didnt get too gloopy as they were used up quickly.

Pigment alters the consistency of different colours and where White is concerned there is a simple explanation. The white polishes contain Titanium to make them white. Titanium is chalky for want of a better word and its inclusion in the polish makes them go thicker faster .... knowing the chemistry of these things helps you to understand how to work better with your products .. even polish.

All polishes are affected by heat to a certain degree ... all products are affected by heat. As for working outside (even in Spain) I would never do this.

Yes they did have the varnishes in the fridge when I went there as well. My varnishes go from the fridge to a cool box and then into the clients fridge when I get there.
I will contact my rep when I go back to England. I was also thinking of buying the smaller bottles as well and seeing how I get on with them. I love the finish of the Jessica but do find my Manicure's and Pedicure's do take much longer.
I might try a few different brands for next summer, I was thinking OPI as this seems to be a brand everyone knows.
Thank's to one and all for the tips.

I work with high end clients and trying to get them to stay in doors is harder than you think. When I can I do but most of my clients like to sit around the pool with their glass of champagne looking gorgeous!
