Oh, hope you are feeling beter soon, I was feeling like that a few weeks ago, all beter now though. I suppose it's their own preference, masks are uncomfortable for sure, but if they are aware of the reasoning behind being asked to wear one and decide not to, if you share your flu with them, it's thier fault. I must admit that given the choice I wouldnt either, as I get so clostraphobic ( my spelling is awful lol ) and can't breathe properly, but it's nice to be given the option, it shows that you are really caring for your client's health
sending get well vibes lol |

If you get the masks that are 'bendy' across the nose and bend them 'just right', you avoid the dreaded fogging (I wear glasses only when using e-file to protect eyes from dust and any flying bits).
Takes a bit of tweaking.. but once you get it right... you're good to go. As for (shall I say it?) ditzy clients who dont' want to expose themselves? They're being selfish for the sake of vanity because if they get sick, they will make other people sick and I'm pretty darned sure that those unwilling victims would have preferred that your clients wear a mask. That, imho, is SELFISH and irresponsible. |

Sorry you are feeling rough
![]() I just don't see clients if they or I are sick. I am rather susceptible to infection, but then on the the other hand, I work part time from home so it is nowhere near the issue you have. Your precautions and care sound good to me, and, lets face it, you can can be sneezed over in a numerous number of places. Anyone that takes reasonable care is to be applauded |

Hope you are feeling better soon Carl
![]() I was ill last week, really ill, so I had to cancel my clients, takes a lot for me to do that. This week, I am better but not 100%, so I am being so conscious. I am surprised that I have any skin left after the amount of times I wash my hands and use my cool blue. I have offered my clients masks but they all refuse. The best laugh is that my ears have really suffered and my hearing still isn't right in my right ear, so when my clients come in they think they are at a rave with my music! One said, all I need is a whistle and a tequila, after I said pardon, I said I think that can be arranged! What gets me is, when my clients openly cough or sneeze when I am working over the top of me! |

Honestly, I probably wouldn't wear one, either. Not being selfish or vane (I'm neither) I just don't feel I would need to wear one.
Sounds like you're doing the right thing. I hope you feel better, soon!

I've been sick now for about 5 weeks, cold/flu on/off for what seems like forever. I'm only working part time (nail studio @ home) but if I'm working while sick I wear a face mask to protect my clients. I haven't actually thought of it the other way around

If they wants bugs so be it...BUT I do think it's selfish of them to catch somethng of you and then pass it around to others...at a time when we have things like swine flu floating around!
Plus does that become your responsibility to make sure we have a safe hygienic work place? Hmmm |

![]() And this isn't directed at you, it's just an expansion on my original post. It's just that as a mom, I think of my kids health first & foremost. I don't want them ill. So, I avoid sick people whenever possible, and protect myself accordingly. I also wouldn't want my 5mth old nephew ill because of me, nor my aged and frail in-laws (father in law is in VERY poor health). And we can be carrying a virus and be contagious without yet showing symptoms. If I chose to hang out with someone in such close proximity (as is the case when getting nails/doing nails), and caught something, then gave it to them KNOWING that my choice is what affected them....... I'd feel pretty darn guilty. In this day and age, with plenty of knowledge and ways to protect ourselves; I see absolutely no legitimate reason for people not to protect themselves AND their loved ones. The flu is so widespread BECAUSE people don't want to wash their hands. Because people won't stay home when they are ill. Because people won't wear masks or cover their faces when they are coughing. I recently took my daughter to a clinic for an allergic reaction. We were stuck there for 8 hours!!!! In a room FILLED with people coughing. There was a sign posted "if you have these symptoms blah blah... please wear a mask" and there was a box of masks there. NO ONE had a mask on. I was DISGUSTED. Here I am with my 8yr old... she's at risk. Then there's my 6yr old at home, she'll be at risk.... At one point I got sorely aggravated, and made my daughter get up so we could go across the room to an unused corner (with no chairs I might add) for her to colour. she asked why, and I very loudly replied "Because this room is full of ignorant idiots who want to make you sick because they won't wear a mask. They're too selfish to care about you or your baby sister" After my announcement, 3 people got up and put on masks. BUT REALLY... I fault the staff for not policing the waiting room and enforcing the mask-policy. For two weeks, I waited wondering if my daughter or myself had caught the flu. If either of us had, I would have been forced to close my doors for business for 2wks while my family was ill. I can NOT afford that lost revenue. Sooooo if I'm a bit heated on the subject of masks... this is why. |

Its a toughie in the salon/workforce as you gotta earn money but really if you are bad you should be at home.
You have done everything I would have and really it is their choice, You have explained that you cannot wear the mask and have offered them one to protect themselves so its upto them. I wouldnt take one as I hardly ever get sick though when one of my clients made me sick in the summer and I was bulling
