Nail polish as jewellery? -
15-02-11, 10:51 AM
It had to happen. We spent months practising so we don't get polish onto a client's skin, and then fashion (at New York Fashion Week) dictates that it is to be worn as jewellery. Check out this article from the All Lacqured Up blog:
Runway or Everyday? - butter LONDON's Nail Polish Rings at Vena Cava | All Lacquered Up My questions are: 1. Do you think this has any associated health risks? 2. Do you think this will catch on and that we'll see it done at nail stations across the UK this summer? |

I think all the comments under that article say it all with concerns about toxicity on the skin. Do we realise that nail varnish is similar to the paint used on cars and would we dream of painting car paint on our beautiful porous bodies? I know this is only a small patch of paint and that we regularly come into contact with all sorts of toxic stuff and maybe we shouldn't even be painting our nails. But painting nail varnish on bare skin is a tad too far for me.

I guess it is like most runway stuff, looks good/bad/whacky on the runway but it is not suitable for most of us for everyday living. So I can't see it catching on and probably not a great move general health wise to put nail varnish on your skin in this manner!
I personally think it looks ridiculous. |

I was thinking either the special glitter and glue used for glitter tattoos, or maybe that alcohol-based airbrush temporary tattoo ink? That would work if you used masking tape to define the edges of the band and then spray on the airbrush tattoo ink or whatever...
