Facebook help - 11-05-11, 02:10 PM

Hello

Have set up a page on facebook advertising my salon (I work from home), not unsure about how I can get the most out of it. I guess I need to keep up dating it, and putting photos on, but how can I get business from it.
Not very up on facebook, so any help would be fab!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks

I think the idea is that a client comes in and you tell them they should 'like' your FB page to keep up to date with the latest offers and treatments, special events, things like that.

So they go home and 'like' the page.

Their friend see that they have 'liked' your page, get curious and wander over to see your page. They are impressed by your photos, information about your business and you list of treatments/prices/offers etc (you'll have to remember to fill your page with as much useful and relevant info as possible). They think 'hey, I think I'll book an appointment' and 'like' your page.

... their friends see that they have 'liked' your page and the networking continues.

All these customers / potential customers who have 'liked' your page get updates on their wall everytime you update your status - whether you put up some new photos or tell them that there's now new treatments on your menu or whatever your message is.

Sometimes it's nice just to keep in touch, let them know if you're on holiday, top tips for aftercare and all that kinda stuff.

I think regular updates are good but as long as you've got lots of good stuff to read (treatment list, about, prices, offers etc) then updating every day is not at all essential. I'd definitely stop by once a week to update your status, even if it's a social 'hello!' to all your followers.

Also the word of mouth is very useful among fans of FB. Because they'll tell their friends 'oh I get my nails done at such and such salon I'll send you the link to their FB page'. Or their friends can just find it on their profile under their 'likes'.

Hope this has helped :-)

I done a page and think i got about 4 likes it didnt catch on..........i find a profile works better i have over 250 friends and counting. At first i didt get much business from it but its slowly working for me. With a profile your friends/ potential customers can get a feel for your business by commeting on statusus in which you can reply , you can iteract on a more personal basis which bulids a type of relationship between you as a therapist and them as a client rather tha just you soley as a business HTH

Here's one example of a mobile nail beauty therapist who has put her FB page into good use.

I think it's more professional to have an FB page for a business or service, you can still interact with your clients through it as the business or indeed personally.

Check out the link above and you'll see what I mean.
She's got a website too where she keeps her treatment menu, but you could easily keep this info on your FB page if you don't have a website.

I'm just looking into this too. Do you know if you can invite people to like your page, or if they just have to come to you on their own?

Yes I wondered if you could invite people to your page. If they have to come on their own it may take a while to build up interest??????

I think you can sahre the link with your friends from your personal page if you've set up a business page. I'm assuming you can try and share the link with people you know but aren't your friends too.

The only thing I'm not sure on is how you tag someone in a piacture if they aren't a personal friend?

Yes you can invite people to your page. There's an invite button to do so :-) you can also add a personal message onto the invite if I remember rightly. x

More suggestions...

Advertise open last minute appointments to help fill your day. Such as...

Today's Special-must be booked by 10am:
5/11 2pm Spa Pedicure with Malea-20% off
5/11 4:30pm Manicure with Jill-20% off

I saw a spa do postings like this to fill in the books and to help out new techs that were building clientele.

You can also educate your facebook fans with great nail care, or helpful information.

You can run facebook specials or advertise your retail products.

Lastly, you can send out reminders to those about up-coming holidays like here in the US (sweetist day-mother's day-valentine's day) so they remember to get the gift certificates from you.
