Confidence boost needed Geeks!!! -
01-03-06, 12:15 AM
Hi Geeks,
Well i've just attempted my first nail on the nail trainer using the Essentials Home learn course. OR MY GOD!!! It was a disaster. Please tell me it gets easier. My head hurts a bit is that from the liquid?? Anyone else have this problem. Can anyone give me advice as i don't think i'll be able to do the course. I'm one of those people who likes to learn face to face. I was planning on doing the CND course anyway. Do you think its best to learn straight away with them or try and learn with the Essential kit? I'm having a woobly moment, bit confused at what the best thing to do. PS i'm blessed as my mum is going to pay for CND course. So its not question of cost. Thanks |

Hunny, you wil definitely get better! My first few sets of nails were a joke!
There are loads of geeks on here that did Essential and I bet 99% of them thought they would never get through the course at some point! Your headache is probably for 2 reasons - one you need good ventilation when working and two, you are probably concentratig so hard and stressing yourself! Relax....you'll be fine. Little bit of time and practise and suddenly you'll look at a nail and think...wow, it all just went OK! Don't even think about including your very first sets on your cards....I asked them about this and they said, they were happy for me to 'get the general hang of it' before doing the nails for submitting! Good luck! You'll get there in no time at all! |

It definitely does get easier, I have done 2 courses with EN and the first one I did I acctually had real problems and got that that fed up with it I put it in the attic for a year before I decided to give it another go.
You just have to keep at it and keep praticing and you will get better and don't worry about what your first nail looks like, I am sure everyone else wasn't perfect the first time. If you are getting headaches and not getting on with the smell, EN do a no odour acrylic system, which I think if you ring them up, they will let you do the course with that system instead. You also don't have to send in your nails untill your satisfied with them, so keep at it and enjoy the course and if you have any probs, we are all here to help. |

I Did My Cnd L&p Last October, everybodies First Set Is A Disaster!!some Of Mine Stil Are.lol.
I Think Your Right To Do The Cnd Course As I Think Nothing Can Beat Having An Educator By Your Side Giving Guidance On Your Mix Ratio, size Of Bead, Angle Of Brush, where To Press And So On And So On. There Is A Lot To Take In And I Don't Think These Things Fall Into Place By Watching A Video. One Thing Everybody On Here Will Tell You Is Practise, Practise, Practise; Its The Only Way To Go, Each Set Will Be Better Than The Last. I Too Have Trouble With My Confidence 4 Months Down The Line, Everybody Says My Nails Are Good But When You Compare Them To The Nails The Masters Do They Are Rubbish. You Have To Remind Yourself That You Can't Do A Perfect 10 Overnight It Takes Time, Practise And Lots Of Ongoing Training. I Think Unless Your Gifted It Would Take At Least A Year. So Take A Leaf Out Of My Book And Don't Be Too Hard On Yourself!!!! Keep At It, If You Love Nails, It Will Work Out. |

cant beat being in a room learning with other techs and a tutor by your side.I have been doing nails 2 years now and still doing some extra training its the best thing you can do.I know its money all the time but if this is the carer that you want you have to pay and do a good course creative are brill.I dont think these home tutor courses are any good you cant best watching someone actually working and showing you. Also if your training with other techs you always get one that is worse than you and then you think actually im not to bad boost your confidance no end

Have to agree with Joella, it takes lots of practice. This will not happen overnight.
My first three days on my CND training I felt sick and could of cried I personally prefer to train with a tutor by my side, I don't think I would of even got this far if I'd done a home learn course, but loads of geeks on here do the home learning and love it. So go get back on that nail trainer and practice, practice, practice!!

If i remember rightly did you buy the EN course off your friend & are just using it to practice to see if nails are for you???
Keep at it hun, i found that as i had done EN when i started my foundation i was really ahead of everyone & it all didnt seem as daunting as i had a good understanding of it all. If you don't get on with the Acrylic maybe do the Brisa Foundation. xx |

Hi Everyone,
Thanks so much for all your replys. Think i'm gonna sit down with my mum one night and we're both gonna have a go. Definetley will be booking CND in next few weeks. I'm sure the course with Essential is really good, but do need a tutor and others by my side. I'm one of those people who like to be shown so if i'm making a mistake i know. Shelley - Yes i did get the course of a mate for £45 so a least if i don't use it i can use the nail trainer when i do CND which will save me a bit of money. And yes i was just getting it to practice. You must have a great memory!! Thanks again to you all. |

Don't give up! The Nail Trainer is a bit weird but you will get used to it. When I did my first set I thought that I was going to be so rubbish (if you could see those nails you would understand - I've kept them to remind myself what progress I've made!) and was very disheartened. Now I've done about 40 sets on there and they are almost perfect so keep going. It does get easier.

It gets better. When I think of the first sets I produced I wonder that I ever had the determination to stay with it.
I used to blame headaches on the monomer but really at least half of it was from concentrating so hard and worrying because it wasn't going right, that I wasn't as fast as I thought I should be, that my model was probably bored, that I wasn't getting it.......check your posture too. |
