i have been asked to write an article - 02-03-06, 01:05 PM

hi everyone, i have been asked to write an article (and competition) in the local magazine. it's quite exciting and it's all free!! anyway... what should i put in there?

I thought that i would mention about natural nail care, manis and pedis.

i thought i would alao mention enhancements. should i talk about the NSS salons? i really hate telling people about bthem as i think they think i am spouting a load of cr*p to make them come to me.

I don't want to seem as though i am trying to sell products to them or my services (i just want to subtly encourage them!!) does anyone have any tips on this? if anyone has done it before, what did you write?

any suggestions appreciated!

i wrote an article for NAILS magazine last year on nail art. i wrote what i thought about nail art. i broke it down into simple ideas.
just write it as you are doing it, simple. keep it easy to understand. people that read it will get the understanding that youre not a too showy tech and be flocking to you!

Perhaps touch base with GMG, Mrs Geek, Geeg or Mum. I am sure they would be glad to help.

I would not mention nns salons specificly because you could be done for liable.
I would point out that enhansment means improving somthing and that includes nails, when you correctly remove an enhansment the natural nail underneath should still be strong and after an oil and buff should look lovely on its own. I would talk about removing shine with a fine grade file as aposed to the myth of needing to shred a nail to get a 'good grip' from the acrylic,
I would also pm Mrs geek with my first draft and ask her to see if you have missed anything, grovel grovel
Good luck hun and don't forget to tell us when and where it comes out, I for one will put it up where shop customers can read it.

Hi there, great opportunity but make sure you get the editorial draft before they publish the article...... I have been there and some editing by the papers editor, can change your article dramatically and can even dramatise things.....and when it is published it is to late.....

You don't need to mention NSS, if you highlight good standard salon proceedure... this will then tell readers what to expect from a great salon..... and when they go to a NSS they will soon realise this is not the sort of salon they have read about.....Sometimes you can say an awful lot by not saying anything at all, if you get my meaning.....
