Allergic to Brisa ?? -
01-06-06, 07:01 PM
Can anyone help ?
I converted to Brisa a few weeks ago and have done 3 sets on friends to practice, However one of my friends told me that while she was on holiday for a week her nails were burning and red raw ! After a week she had to take them off (She didnt come to me to do it though, so has now probably damaged her nails) Her daughter had hers done at the same time and they were fine ! Now I know I didnt damage them as I am so careful with filing, and I didnt have to file them anyway, as they were put straight onto natural nails, so I only took off the surface shine. I have no idea what has caused this. In 18 months of doing nails I have never had a problem like this, and it is worrying me incase it happens again. Could it be that she is allergic to the gel ? I am also careful that I dont get gel on the skin. HELP !! Ness |

Hi...was this a natural nail overlay...or tips & overlay?...
if it was tips maybe this was an allergic reaction to the adhesive... as Sandi said Brisa is Hypoallergenc therefore unlikely to cause an allergic reaction.....but it can't be ruled out 100%....hope you get to the bottom of it. |

I know they say it is hypoallergenic, but on the course they did say it was on a par with the l & p for allergic reactions.
It is really weird ! Usually I would expect someone to have red raw nails after over filing during a rebalance, but a new set where the nail only had the surface shine buffed !! She did have VERY flat nail beds, and I am wondering if the tips pinched slightly and this caused a bit of pain, and when she took them off (biting and picking apparently) this damaged the nail and made them red ! |

Isabel,
Ahhh maybe it was the adhesive then as I did use tips. I am just about to start my own business and am worried incase this happens to a client. I am sure it is nothing I have done, so suppose there is nothing I can do in the future to stop it happening again. |

Actually YES she could be allergic. Hypoallergenic does not mean you won't be allergic, it just means the most common ingredients that cause allergies are removed.
i am allergic to fake tan, even the hypoallergenic ones, because they still contain the DHA ingredient that causes my allergy. you can be allergic to any chemical, and a chemical is anything you can touch (including the plastic your keyboard is made out of). Some people are even allergic to water, so its quite possible she could be allergic to one of the other ingredients in Brisa. i would also say that as the allergy did not go away until she removed the gel, then yes she is. |

I may be barking up the wrong tree but are you sure that she had a reaction as she had removed them before you had seen them? Was the redness caused by her removing them incorrectly? I may be wrong but surely if she was going to have a reaction to them it would have been sooner than a week?

Hi ya
Shrinkage with gel is more prominent than L&P. At a guess [broad one] this may have caused a tight feeling - pain as the nail is pinched & an upward force is created in the centre of the nail plate , much like centre pocket lifting but on the natural nail. Try sizing the tips one size larger & tailor them to allow for a flat nail bed. Dont rule out the other suggestions, just a process of elimination. HtH XX J XX |
