what makes a guy get into nails? - 23-06-06, 01:29 PM

Just wondered really - how did any of u guys get into doing nails??!!!
When you think about it there's a lot of top teks who are male , Tom Holcombe , Leigton Denny etc but how did they get into it and actually pick up a brush and give it a go?
GMG - what made you start?!
My thoughts are that us girlies were into it from an early age - probably Mums influences) or have had their nails done and it stemmed from there ?
What about you guys ?
What did your mates say when you told them about it??
I know one thing for sure I'd definately be in the queue for any of the male teks to do my nails for me!
Just curious -(and bored !)
so lets hear it peeps !
good on ya anyway - when u think about it most of the best chefs and hairdressers are also male arent they ?- weird !
love to hear from you anyway
curious jayneym xxx

Hello...

What make us get into nails is probably the same as girls: because we love doing that job. It's both technical and artistic.

A few years ago I went to the hairdresser. And next to me, a girl was having something that looked like a manicure. But it looked very long and complicated. I saw the nail tech mixing odd products, filing and buffing again and again... I was aware of fake nails, but only cheap ones that you glue and go. But what was happening was really different.

When the nails were done, I peeked at them and I was shocked by the end result. The nails were twice longer as before and they looked wonderful. I didn't even know that doing something like that was actually possible.

It's why I started to search docs about nail overlays. I read about L+P, gels... I became fascinated by nail art...

And finally I decided to get a course, in Paris. I did it secretely, my girlfriend even didn't know about that. The purpose of that course was mainly to check whether I could really do that job or not.

In the beginning, it was really difficult. Even using polish was not something I was using to do. But I kept training, and I'm now really in love with that job. It's just like a drug.
