Hellooo ..was browsing and.... - 27-07-06, 09:06 PM

Read a couple of threads. I was reading one that wasgoing on about the NSS places and how bad using drills and stuff is for the nailbed - potentially splitting it and it being painful etc etc!
A small recap if I may,I normally have nice, healthy long nails. I look after them well and use oils and stuff to keep them in good condition. I started a new job and it is very stressful, not least because I was getting to grips, so to speak, with the protocol etc, and I ended up breaking my nails one by one and it was a rocky road to disgusting bitten nails in a week. (haven't bitten my nails in 20 yrs!!).
Anyways, I booked my shamefaced self into a salon (an approved beauty salon) and they popped on some gel thingies. I was in a rush and even though I asked for squoval (!) she left them very square and they felt rough to touch - if you know what I mean. I thought - no worries I will file them to my liking myself later on. I did that and they looked passable, not great but ok.I was dissapointed as they were not cheap.
After two days they started lifting off, they looked absolutely dreadful. I was in a it of a state about it (bearing in mind I was meant to be concentrateing on work) I took myself off to a salon and to be fair they did a job on them, they look fantastic. Just like the real things! BUT - they did use the drill thing and it did burn a bit and I said so, not sure what his reply was as he just got on with it. The girl who did the initial job used a normal file but that burnt too, when I complained (yelped) she said it was because I was oversensitive to pain, but it hurt for two days.
Anyways, after reading those threads, I am fretting, should I get them taken off? How? I don't want to go near anyone to be honest, it has turned out to be a bit of a nightmare. They are on like glue, solid as a rock. How would I take them off? Should I just leave them? Will they fall off? Is there something going on under them that I need to know about? Gawd..
A lesson learnt for me.
*vows* I will never ever ever bite my nails again!

Firstly Hi and Welcome to the site, It sounds as if your first experience of nail enhancements hasn't been a good one. There are good and bad nail technians out there regardless of them using a normal file or a e-file. Because your nails have been redone in a Thai salon doesnt mean that they have been badly done if the nail salon as good revues in your local area and they dont use mma you should be fine.
