I hold my hands up and say i didn't research at all i googled on the internet and found a course that looked good and was affordable. Now i am having to go back to the beginning and start again.
From looking on this site i have realised how little i was taught. Can wait to start training again - a week on monday! |

I'll 'fess up I thought it was going to be easier than it was, so I just got the most convenient course I saw. Kicking my little self now though, I haven't finished it and I don't think I will, the product application is way harder than little miss smarty pants thought and I really need some class room based learning to be able to progress any further.

A wowser thread Sandi especially in light of views from other peeps recently!
I don't think I researched enough before training with Pronails although I probably still would have trained with them anyway. I was introduced to the Pronails gel quite by chance really. I didn't even know there were other gels out there. I had only ever heard of Bio Sculpture. Anyway, fell in love with the Pronails gel. Loved the salon in Bushey and the staff. Got hooked and that was that! The post training support has been excellent so I'm happy. My only regret was that overexposure was not covered in detail. I got careless and now have to take extra special precautions when handling product. I don't regret my Calgel conversion either. Great teaching. Excellent back-up and customer service. I think I'm lucky though. I could have ended up training else where where it could have been a mistake and left me feeling let down and disappointed like some peeps. |

I "thought" I had
I called all the schools listed in the phonebook that were local to me. I asked them to send me a course breakdown and costs. I chose what I 'thought' was the best. Looking back..... The problem is this: if you don't know of a site such as this one, if you don't have a tech that can PROPERLY answer your questions (keeping in mind that licensing etc is NOT required in Quebec) THEN you don't know what questions you should be asking nor how to choose a school. If you don't know what it is that you don't know, then how can you know what questions to ask? Therein lies the problem. Hindsight is a lovely useless thing, isn't it. Edited to add: Can't vote in poll as neither answer applies. At the time, I 'thought' I had researched well, but looking back, I didn't know enough to do so. Like I said... "If you dont know what you don't know, then how can you know what questions to ask?" |

no, i didnt research very well - hands up - i admit it!!! LOL BUT it has, nevertheless, stood me in good stead having a vtct that is recognised!!! as for the actual course - NOTHING SHORT OF AWFUL!!! they never even taught us - sanitisation (i didnt even know what barbicide was) not to wear contact lenses how to dispose of acetone safely in fact, it scares me that i think i passed a nationally recognised course knowing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about essential things - thanks to this site & doing A LOT of reading since, as well as having some one to one training etc i now feel competent 4 years after doing my course!!! I WILL GET OFF MY SOAP BOX NOW - sorry !!! xxxxxxxx |

I researched what courses I could do from home, that was the only option to me then,
but reguarding to choosing ezflow training, it wasnt so much the product first but more the educator, after watching antony at alot of shows it was what decided "who" i wanted to be educated by. I then tried the products liked them alot, then booked with antony...like i said it was more the educator first that i researched and watched and watched (no not a stalker...pmsl) |

In light of my recent thread, I choose the course that I could do at the time. It was the best option for me at the time, as I had just had my first baby, and needed to feel that I was making a future for myself.
If my situation was different I would have chose a different course, but it wasn't. I thought I had researched the course enough, read all of the small print etc, and had a look at the curriculum. It looked to cover everything I needed to know, but the fine details just weren't there. The price was reasonable and the times I could study were good for me. I don't regret doing the course, as it has given a starting point, and a thorough knowledge of the theory side. But, if my situation was different I would have gone with Creative. Heather xxxx |

i didnt research either..
i thought the only way to gain a certificate to be a nail tech was to do a NVQ in college.... which i ended doing.... to be fair.. it wasnt bad course... it taught me the basics and the biology side of things.. i also had a great tutor who fed me with lots of information along the way... the NVQ taught me a lot of theory... but even by the end of it when i passed.. i wasnt confident enough to offer nail enhancement to my clients.. the course didnt teach me enough on the practical side of things... |

Great thread Sandi
I have to say when I decided to do my initial training (Essential Nails) I just saw them on the Internet and thought YES thats what I need and the fact I didn't have to pay it all at once was a help. Once I had finished the Course and found this site it did make me think that I should have looked around to see what the other options were. My area there isn't much choice of what 'Nail' training you can do if you are willing to travel miles then you have more choice but I do feel lucky that the advice in here has helped me I feel choose the right training for me. |

I researched for places where I could do NVQ intensively locally to me. I didn't research their reputation because I thought that there would be consistency in the teaching of NVQs. I was fortunate in that the training I received was to a high standard and I would recommend K-Sa-Ra to anyone wanting to do their NVQ in nails.
It was by recommendation that I furthered my education with Creative. |
