At my college in southend we have to be working towards a teaching qualification and have 1 level higher in qualification to what it is we are teaching. Ive got my cert ed and my 7407 with city and guilds but i cannot assess as i didnt take that element, and this takes me into private training as well as Further ed and higher ed.
Private training places stipulate according to what courses they teach. My hope Judy are that eventually the colleges will full up with us lot and then courses will get taught properly and we can educate the examining boards as well. |

Since then I have done courses with 2 reputable companies just to get better training. Again, at a cost of course. The colleges do really need to have a good shake up IMHO.

There are some new qualifications coming in for teaching life long learning, I think these will surpass the 70's.... for FE and also schools when beauty, hair and nails are being taught at senior school....yes I think this will happen.....
I know what they are but I can't remember the name of them....I'll try and find my notes and let you know. |

This whole debate where nails are concerned and company training versus VTCT/NVQ is both interesting and slightly worrying. It seems that the general consensus is that if you train with a reputable company, you get the <arguably> better training and yet the employment market tends to favour the national standard 'Professional' qualifications.
I am planning to fund myself next year to get through the VTCT route, with a view to consolidating my knowledge, training and qualifications and yet so many seem to be saying that I've already had the better and more up to date education with a reputable company! If the knowledge/skills imparted at colleges isn't the most up to date and comprehensive etc, then isn't it about time the government was 'Educated' about this deficit and had a rethink about their standards?

hi if you want to know more about the 7303 PTLLS or the 7304 CTLLS go to the IFL site www.ifl.ac.uk and they will explain it a bit more for you.
I want to teach privately so I am doing the 7303 and will be covered to teach by the guild insurance. I also want to teach at my local college so i would also need to do the 7304 certificate which will enable me to teach at college.u can go further into specific teaching courses etc it goes on and on. It depends on who you want to teach and where you want to teach. |

No but you need to get your A1 assessors qualification to asses the NVQ's PTLLS to teach them etc.
