NSI primer with Creative? - 04-03-08, 03:52 PM

Does anyone know if it is ok to use nsi acid free primer with creative ret plus?
I know you don't need a primer with ret plus but a couple of my clients have had lifting recently. One had very bad cuticle and although a very thorough prep was done, in hind sight a few manicures prior to enhancements may have been a good idea.

So would it be ok to use the nsi acid free primer which I have at the moment to help with the acrylic bond?

Thanks

It is never a good idea to mix products from different companies, they all have their own recipes and all slightly differ so you could cause a chemical reaction hth
sorry i know that is not what you wanted to hear but it is not worth the risk,

why don't you order some nailfresh from creative and do a scrubfresh sandwich to help with the lifting,
scrub the nail plate with scrubfresh
apply the nailfresh
scrub nail plate again with scrubfresh,
this usually works on lift prone clients or if you do want to use a acid free primer creative do sell it hth

You will get less adhesion with NSI's Acid Free Primer than with Retention+ without a primer. As Lou mentioned, try NailFresh. More importantly in helping you out though would to ask the question: Why type of lifting are you coming across and how soon is it happening?

For instance, crescent lifting along Zone 3 after a week is more likely a cuticle issue than a cleansing/adhesion problem so you could be barking up the wrong tree.

If you can, let us know more and we will get you sorted

Thanks

Yes it was around zone 3 after about 4 days. She called to say she had banged her nails and one had come off. When she arrived the one next to it had also came away. She did say it was her fault totally but I can't help thinking if I removed more of the cuticle this may not have happened.
I see what you are saying though regarding the primer. If the cuticle has not been removed totally then I guess no amount of primer would have an effect?

I used my new pusher (which take off loads compared with my old one). Used cuticle remover and also sprayed nails after to remove cuticle remover.

She came to me on recommendation from a client I have had for 3/4 years. This client does well with her nails so I am hoping it is just that this new client is very heavy handed. She has 2 cat and 2 dogs and her nails were very neglected. I did actualy say on the first visit that due to the condition of her nails (loads of cuticle to remove) the enhancements may not last too well on this first set. I hope that if she becomes a regular then I may be able to get her nails into better condition and therefore acrylic may last longer.

She does love the comments she has been getting about her nails and would like to get them regular.

Thanks again for taking the time to reply.

On the nails that came off, was there any damage to the nail? If so, then they were picked or forced off. To your point regarding the Zone 3 lifting after 4 days, I would agree it was a cuticle issue. Get her using Cuticle Eraser regularly to help exfoliate between visits which will make a world of difference (along with SolarOil usage). Also make sure that the nails are an appropriate length for how she uses them (keeping in mind she is new to nails).

Also worth trying the NailFresh solution. That stuff is amazing

HTHs!

Thanks.

Do you think it is anything to do with not pressing product enough into zone 3. I do try to do this as I know with ret plus it is important. Problem is I find that the pro styler (no 8) is sometimes not firm enough to press well.

Does everyone else manage fine this this brush in zone 3 (ie no lifting problems)?

The pro styler is a firm favorite of many a cnd tech so i don't think it is your brush, although you are right the product does need to be pressed well onto the nail,
sounds more like not removing the cuticle enough

Sometimes CND NA's prefer the Ultra Sculptor (the big boy ) as it is really big (size 10) and you can be a bit firmer with it. Hope this helps
