Well having been and looked I dont want to comment on the nails as she might be a Geek or come in here and read so its not fair imo to comment on them as she didn't ask for critique.
I'm sorry you have such a low opinion of UK techs, I cant see how you reached that conclusion when I look at what I see as inspiration in this forum, and there is plenty if you look for it

I notice the original poster was a newbie geek, with only a few posts to her name. It does take a while to navigate round the site, it will only be a matter of time before she finds all the lovely pics in the gallery here.

The flare shape is very popular here in California(same place as the nail tech). Honestly i think she is one of the best that I have ever seen. Not everybody does the same type of work especially if they are from different countries!!!!!

i thought the nail tech did very good work. i just dont like flared nails. my aunt used to live in modesto and they always have really funky styles there; as a matter of fact, my cousins are all nail techs LOL

I couldnt remember my login details to My Space and its just as well, one look at the nails in the link told me i wouldnt like what i was going to see.
Nails like that go against everything i was taught as a nail tech. Fanned nails give me the eebie jeebies, they make me cringe and some what feel sick lol Good use of colour is all i can say, sorry ![]() As for the newbie who posted, take your time to look through our gallery and you will find some fab work by some fab uk techs |

I know you do get different shapes in different areas, hell i hate the porn star nails so many essex girls love having, but it's what can be the awful trned sometimes. We just have to strive to "educate" our clients as to what is really pleasing to the eye. |

I'm sorry but I thought there was way too much tip which outbalanced the nail bed and I have to agree that the 'flared look' is awful. Plus in all honesty I have seen much better than this.
I think that to find a good quality (and I mean GOOD quality) set of nails is really really hard but this is what most of us aspire to. Granted, the international techs sites outweigh the UK ones, but we are a small fish in a big pond and this doesn't mean that we are not as good. Maybe this is what you meant to say??? Anyway, just keep doing what we are all doing; improving, improving, improving. Claire x |

I just don,t like the shape...if the shape would be straight instead of flared i think that the use of her colors are quite cool.
I really never understood why flared nails are popular anywhere |

I'm sure the person in the US is a very talented person, personally I have no desire to even remotely copy that sort of wide, flared unproportioned style.
I'll leave that 'loud' stuff to the californians! To learn the nail art is all about having an artistic streak within you. Get yourself some paints, glitters and rhinestones etc and just let your imagination run riot. |

Fantastic designs and looks as though so much hard work as gone into it...Take a look at the geek gallery and im sure you will think different x

well if the UK do not produce good techs then i may as well give up now (after only 7months) as most of my influences are right here in the UK...many on this site. I really think that even i could do alot of what has been done there with regards to colour (may be not all).....i havent done any courses just experimenting and finding out how to on this site (i do have ezflow design course coming up though). But from my training the shape of the nails is not what i am trying to achieve....it may well be a big hit in the states but not for me. The link to solarnails' nails show i think a much better example as the nail bed has been extended so they look at lot more balanced.
I am commenting on these as i feel if you post pictures on a website for all to see then people are going to comment....whether it be good or bad....most comments have been constuctive critisim so far. |
