Question Custom Blend Question - 09-05-08, 02:07 PM

When doing custom blends do you try to match the colour of the nailbed or the colour of the skin? I made a mix and applied a tiny bit to the skin just beneath my cuticle, it's almost identical to my skin colour which is olive/slightly tanned but completely different to the colour of my nailbeds which are more pink they almost have a sort of blue/purple tinge to them.

Which should I be trying to match

Thankyou

the nail, as it will hide possible dots, damage, annnnnnnnnd make your set still look great after a few weeks

but you have to consider the skin tone as well.

Thanks, I can see what you're saying but if I used the colour that matched my skin colour this would also cover any imperfections too??

My take on a custom blend is to match and cover the nail, so that as it grows out you cannot see the new growth, both at the cuticle and at the free edge.

Matching to the skin will disguise any imperfections but new growth will be more obvious at the cuticle area. Hope this makes sense.
