I have been too scared to cut off any large cuticle debris as scared of making the client bleed and this leading to infection but wondered how many techs do actually cut large bits that stick out when you have done cuticle work? Thanks.

Cuticle cannot bleed as it is not living tissue and is attached to the nailplate.

If you are talking about trimming dry bits of skin that are sticking up off the living SKIN that surrounds the nailplate, then it is quite safe and simple to trim just to the skin and no more.

Keep the blades of your nippers parallel to the skin and do not use the points of the blades.

Just go slowly and carefully and you will be OK. No need to be afraid.

with really ugly cuticles/eponichium, I soak them, the dead bits turn obviously white, then I cautiously trim

Didn't think you could get the nail wet? or are we talking about manicure's? not nail extensions if nail ext's do you just dehydrate as normal?
