Morning!

I have a client coming in at 3pm today.
She is having nail art over her enhancements and wants me to do 2 rows of chequered stripes at an angle across the nails, with black & white stripes at the top and bottom.

Anyone got any tips on how to produce small black & white chequered lines??
I don't have any stickers/decals or anything I could use.
Everything I do is handpainted. No airbrush.

I thought if I did a thickish white enamel line, then I could use black acrylic paint over to somehow do the small squares, which I could wipe off, leaving the white if I balls it up, which I will

does sound fiddly bev, try using a cocktail stick to do the black squares with, youll have more controll than if you use a brush.

It does sound fiddly Could you make a stencil somehow? and paint through the holes? Sorry if this is a silly idea. I haven't done any nail art work but just thought it might work? and make a reverse stencil for the white?

p.s (you could print a chess board out (shrink it down in size) use a small craft knife and cut the squares out. Place over the nail and paint. That way all the squares will be the same size across all the fingers). LOL just a thought

Sounds fiddly, could use the striping pens or tape to make the lines?

I'm liking the cocktail stick idea.
I also wonder if i could print some small design onto photo quality paper, cut it out & stick it on with a gel topcoat over??????

i dont think it would be thin enough.

Just tried it on the photo paper and you're right Susan, it's way too thick.

Oh well, worth a try I suppose!

the only other way i can think of is to carve say an orange stick to have a square end and dip it in some paint and print with it. get practicing, she'll be here soon and you want to look like you have done it hundreds of times before

Well, I have done them and the client was very pleased - thankfully.

I did a stripe across the nail using CND's Cream Puff, having 1st applied Cnd's Sticky.
Let it dry and then with my new square matchstick type thing I applied black splodges! Then tidied them up by going over the whole thing with my detailer and black & white acrylic paint.

Here's a picture - don't look too close as I've a trapped nerve in my right elbow and I get the shakes when concentrating! Lol!

I think you did very well they look classy
