Some time ago I bought Popits and got on quite well with L&P but couldn't master them with gel.

I just couldn't get the right amount of pressure on the Popit whilst it was curing and had all sorts of problems. I had tried loads of different ways to hold it in the correct place but always found them too tight or too loose, resulting in gaps, bubbles etc.

I decided to give it another go today, just on myself, and made a discovery. When applying the gel laden Popit to my nail, once I had lowered it to the surface of the nail I just kept the finger next to the one I was doing on it with light pressure and put my hand in the lamp for a 10 second freeze cure. Obviously 'the holding finger' is blocking the UV so to be sure I repeated the 10 seconds and then removed my finger and the Popit stayed in place.

I then did the full cure with the Popit on and again with the Popit off.

I hope this helps someone else to cut the time doing their own nails

One question thought - have you used this same technique on all fingers? cause I can only overlap onto my nagger finger and not the others?!?!?! (or am I just being awkward)!

Yes I did, with the thumbs though, I did use a finger from the other hand, just got to be quick when you put the lamp on

Interesting, what colour gel did you use, I presume you can't do pink and white with popits? I thought popits were only for using with l & p.

I used a natural tip with translucent pink over. For pink and whites I'd have used white tips and clear.

Popits can be used with L&P or gel and if you look in the tutorials section Geeg as done one on both of them - HTH

No I'm useless with the camera, but yes the apex and finish is lovely

So are these going to be your "event" nails then?

I will probably redo them for the event - I want them to look their best, I have a feeling this is somewhere where nails might be noticed
