I have read and thought a lot about this thread.
Gigi..you are Creative through and through and you know I love ya to bits...but I WOULD NOT tell a tech to use a product they are not trained to use..that's just me I guess. If we have to go deeper I think a lot of techs will be frustrated by the use of hema in product etc. YOU would be be SOOOOO cross if I told a Creative tech to start using EzFlow products etc.for prep!! But at the end of the day..everything works AS AND WHEN IT IS SUPPOSED to do so. |

I do not see why a PREP product would cause lifting when it has been made to combat problems such as lifting?!
I use CND and Young nails - Young have NO products for PREP only protein bond which is applied to clean dry prepped nails. They recommend a dry prep but there's no way I'm gonna waste time on someone with bad cuticle as I only have 75 mins! Out comes the cuticleaway and the client has to rinse this off with hand wash and water - I find water alone is sometimes not enough as the product goes thick after a while. Its whatever hand wash I have sometimes palmolive, sometimes scentsations, sometimes aldi I have over the years tried and tested many products and mixed products to see what is the best for me and my clients There is no problem with anyone doing anything with product as long as they can identify why they may get service breakdown if at all. As you get more experienced and educated you start to see why product a doesnt work with product b or why there is no problem with using product a with product c! |

I dry prep on regular clients who don't have build up....I wet prep on clients that need it....I do what the nails need.
I used to use Creative Cuticle remover on everyone...and yes i did get more lifting than i do now...but it wasn't the cuticle remover...it was me not being thorough enough with removing it. So i don't see how a prep product can cause lifting as long as its used and removed propperlly... There are more than 1 way to do things...it what you are doing works for you then stick with it...if not then try something else. |

OK, I was discussing this with my EZF trainer just yesterday.....and yes while EZF do advocate a dry prep, she agreed that on some people you need to do a wet prep with a cuticle remover if the build up is really intense.
The important thing to remember however, is that the nail plate is clean and dry. ie. if you use cuticle fadeaway, then the client must wash their hands with soap and water thoroughly before putting the ez bond on and continuing with the service. We actually did two nails on my hand, one with wet prep and one with dry prep (all EZF products) and I have to say that so far, no problems with the wet prep nail (which was a tip - on purpose). With ANY system, you are taught their way of prep/application, but that doesn't mean its the ONLY way. However, when training, do it the way its taught and then with experience, you will run into issues and figure out the way round those issues. Remember always, its the health of the natural nail that is of prime importance. :-) Nancy |

OK I give up
The girl originally posted a question asking what was best....I read her profile she uses EzFlow like me.....I tell her dry prep is the way we are trained and I've NEVER had any probs.....she thanked me....this is the way EzFlow educate and recommend..... If she was a Creative user and I told her to dry prep, everyone would have been down on me like a ton of bricks.....correct??? I rest my case. If someones cuticles were SOOOOO bad I would book her in for a manicure first to get rid of the excess and make a later appointment for enhancements. 2 appointments...more money...nice set of nails with no lifting. Who wants a drink? |

Decided to drop my thoughts on this great subject too)
I work with 3 brands - IBD gels, CND Brisa and Retention +, EzFlow HD I do a Creative prep as a rule now and i DONT have any problems with lifting anymore. Simply because I now remove more build up than i was removing with dry prep. Cuticle away has to be neutralised with soapy water, yes I know, for some people its a hassle to get the client to go a wash their hands. I have a spray bottle filled with water and Citrus Soak, i spray the fingers and pat them dry with a face cloth. By the time i have finished the other hand the first one is perfectly dry. (thanks to Wee Fee who taught me) I dont mix the products at the application, but I truly beleive that prep using different product will not affect the longevity of enhancement. As Gigi said, as long as its dry... IMHO
