Dry prep? or cuticle remover? x - 29-11-08, 09:32 PM

Just wondering if it would be a better idea to use cuticle remover during my prep rather than doing it dry because i find it removes everything better, or should you avoid this because of the moisture? xxx

The only time I decided to try cuticle remover during what should be a dry EzFlow prep I had lift issues. For me it works better to stick with what your system recommends

I've always used the Cuticle Removing for my prep, and never had any lifting problems. You just have to make sure that you completely remove it, using Citrusoak and water.

I think using CND Cuticle Remover does a much more thorough job of removing cuticle and is also more luxurious and pampering not to mention kinder to the nails than a dry prep.

Using Cuticle Remover however does mean that you have to remove all traces of it in the recommended way.

If the prepared nails are perfectly clean and dry before application of product, then there should be no reason in the world why you shouldn't use it with any system.

If EZF have found any issues because of the use of cuticle remover, then it is because the technicians are not removing it ... not because it has any affect on the adhesion of EZF products.

i do mainly do a dry prep for clients whos nail/cuticles are in a good way and require little attention. however if the clients cuticles are very dry and the skin surrounding is over grown and a more intense prep is required i use either cuticle eraser or cuticle remover depending on how bad they are. I use these for bothe ezflow or cnd prep as they are just what i have (from my cnd courses and as they work me me see no need to change them) and i find they have no effect on the ezflow system at all.

I think it comes down to what your trained to do and if you aren't trained to remove something or the step isn't in the prep your trained to do, introducing it is a problem if you dont have 100% the right knowledge or products to get all traces gone. Hence why I had issues and why I stuck to what I knew.

Yes that's fine if you are using CND, as you do, but it is not recommended for use with EzFlow. EzFlow do NOT train techs with these products or in this way.
It is dry prep ALWAYS with EzFlow.
And not recommended to mix 2 different systems as training and products differ.
If you work the way you have been trained by EzFlow you will have no problems at all.

I have to say, I had probs with lifting with EzFlow and dry prep. This got much better once using CND cuticle remover. As Geeg says, as long as you thouroughly remove it, you aren't combining systems. I also use scrubfresh when using EzFlow too. I think the main thing about not mixing systems is about not mixing monomer from one system with polymer from another, not about prep products (please someone correct me if this is wrong!). I was taught the dry prep by two different EzFlow educators at two different times, and still had the lifting problems (and I have the pro pusher in case you were wondering).

No I've always used dry prep as trained and never had any lifting issues.
If you were MEANT to use a cuticle remover you would be trained with it tbh.
EzFlow educators wouldn't train you a certain way if it didn't work would they??

I repeat ...

If the prepared nails are perfectly clean and dry before application of product, then there should be no reason in the world why you shouldn't use CND preparation products with any system.

There are many ways to prep nails. You can use a drill, you can use a 100 grit file on the nail plate ... other systems/brands teach this method of prep ... it doesn't mean that it is the best way to do it. These methods work but so do kinder more gentle methods.

The fact that EZF teach a dry prep does not mean that it is the only method of prep that works with the system .. the result of any type of prep, be it gentle or harsh, is that the nail plate be clean of all oil and cuticle and dry. If you have achieved this then the system will work just fine.

The biggest responsibility we have as professional nail technicians is to guard the health of the natural nail beneath the enhancements at all times; this should be uppermost in our minds whenever we do nails. Having this mind set helps not only the clients but it also helps the technician and his/her business because the healthier the nail plate, the better the product will adhere to it. For these reasons alone it makes sense to do the most thorough prep you can in the most gentle method possible.
