Gel/L&P pros and cons - 03-04-09, 04:55 PM

Prompted by a comment on another thread, of those of you who use both l&p 'And' gel, what are your thoughts about l&p being the 'Faster' system to use? Is it to your advantage, once proficient, that you can't faff about with l&p whilst you can pontificate over a gel smile line to your heart's content or can you do a set of both in the same amount of time anyway?

Am just getting up to a reasonable speed myself with l&p and have recently done a conversion with gel, so I obviously can't speak from personal experience. At the moment, it seems that l&p can be applied more quickly <although it isn't as easy to file off as gel, I find> and you don't have the bother of constantly being in and out of a lamp to potentially slow you down, but I stand corrected. Would be really interested to hear your views.

I think it depends entirely on which system you use the most.

I tend not to mess about with my gel smile lines now, I used to, but once you're confident with it you just get on with it
I have used gel for approx 4 years now (I think lol) and L+P for a year, I do more gel and I'm faster when I use gel.
However, my L+P times are coming down the more I use it and the more confident I become with it.

I have 2 UV lamps now, but when I just had the one I didn't find it hampered my timings, apart from when I was curing the thumbs. While one nail is curing I'm working on another and so on.

You'll get there with gel, no worries

I use both systems and to be honest I am quicker with gel than I am l&p! But thats because I havent completely get to grips with acrylic yet, I think I just panic because I know its going to set and I gotta be quick! But I suppose practise will make perfect :-)

I find Brisa and L&P to be about the same, time wise. I wish I were faster in both.

Thank you everyone. I'll get to grips with gel in the end and I'm already sporting a set of gel toes.
