Eek Rebalance problems - 29-06-09, 11:07 PM

hey! ive just recently qualified and managed to rent a space in a salon and ive been loving it hehe!!!
had some really good clients and im pretty happy with applying a full set of acrylic extensions but its the infilling im having a few problems with.
I dont know if im not filling enough old acrylic away but when ive finished applying new acrylic you can see like a white line underneath the new acrylic and looks like lifting but i was sure i filed off all the lifting, im getting this line on my mums nails too, i could file some more acrylic but then like im filling off half the acrylic, is this ok??
Thanx!!! x

Yes, this is OK to file away ALL the lifted acrylic.
Once you've become more proficient in application, you'll find that they don't lift so much at the cuticle. They should be more 'flush' with the nailbed.
To get good results at infills, you must eradicate anything that's going to show through the new acrylic and create shadows.

ok thankyou i must not be taking away all of the lifting, this one paticular customer i infilled her nails that she had done elsewhere and they were pretty thick at the cuticle but i was scared to file through her nail plate u see so i played it safe but then i wasnt happy with the results, shes booked in for tomorrow, i think i may soak them off and do a brand new set or can you file away the whole problem?

applying too thick at the cuticle will cause the product to lift as well as touching the skin might. work a bit thinner and make sure you are aware of the angle of your file ......as long as you are careful how you work and use a file that is a safe enough grit for the natural nail you will not do any damage.
there are some fab tutorials on here that might help you. i will find you a link. in time you will reduce/eliminate most of your lifting and you infills/rebalance will become alot easier.
here is one of the tutorials.....
File control!! Part 4 - During the Rebalance

Great advice already given, but remember too when you are rebalancing, the amount of product used is paramount. At first it is so easy to use way too much which just results in more filing! What you file off is what you are replacing, I learned a valuable lesson with this, so hope it helps some too.
