What are the best tips to use please? - 26-08-09, 09:39 PM

I've just done my training course with Salon Systems and am practise, practise, practising (well as much as I can with an 8 month bump in front of me!) LOL

On our course we used Salon Systems tips and when I started to practise I used a set from Millennium nails (they had a feathered bit to the 'well' to minimise blending) but these I found we harder to blend.

I then bought a box of Mercia natural tips. Which, when blended, look lovely, but I seem to spend so long pre-tailoring them - 2 hours tonight on my sis-in-law (filing down 'well' to reduce amount of blending once on nail) and I wondered which tips you all use that has minimal blending?

I can appreciate that what is good for one tech isn't for another and it's just trial and error, but I thought I'd ask first coz these trials cost pennies everytime so I'd like a lil' bit of direction first please!

Thanks guys!

CND Performance tips in White or Natural or Velocity tips in Clea, White or Natural ... there are no tips that blend faster or are more durable. 08452106060 to order by phone or go to Welcome - Sweet Squared and register to buy on line but I warn you, you will need to send a copy of your certificate to buy CND professional products as there is a strict policy to ONLY sell to professionals.

Majority of tips are made by a few manufacturers. So there is some difference as far as strength, but not much. But in my experince there hasn't been much differnce in performance of tips. What really makes a difference is building up the stress area to make the nail stronger. I've used thin and thicks tips and it hasn't made any difference. I prefer 1/2 well tips. First, because I like the guide of where to place them on the nail and second, they are easier to blend. You can also use something like Blend a Tip (not sure if that is available in your area) that will make it easier to blend the tips.

I really like the CND velocity tips! They work great and the well isn't to large which is really nice when working on shorter nails! They are really easy to blend also and have a great curve! To be honest out of all the tips I've used CND tips have worked the best for me!

But try out a couple different brands, everyone has their own prefrences and you may find a different brand you like better! Also the CND 5 second speed glue is awesome!

Hi all,

this is my first post and I'm just wondering if anyone could recommend which tips to use for a natural look e.g. natural tips with clear gel on top.

I have natural Calgel tips which I like, but they need quite a bit of blending, and I have natural CND Velocity tips but obviously you cannot put clear gel on top as you can see where the tip has been attached to the natural nail shining through!!

So if anyone could recommend which would be best for a natural look that would be superb!!

If you have blended CND Velocity tips perfectly then there is no reason at all why you cannot apply clear gel over the top of them .. you should see nothing at all but a perfectly natural nail tip.

If you do not want to blend then use the fabulous well-less tips form CND in Clear, Natural, or white They are called Performance tips.
