Quiet times and what to do?

In over 20 years I’ve only ever been asked once, no tell a lie I was TOLD by a vegan (who has never had her nails done with me anyway!) That she may have her nails done with me one day, if I stopped using polish made out of beetles!!! [emoji849] THOSE WHO KNOW, KNOW!! I did tell her that it was...

Will I get better at gel and acrylics?

I’m sorry but this reply is really unhelpful and misleading....the bit where you say 1-3 months where do you get this from? This is you and YOUR experience! Everyone is different, some people may take longer than others to get something but that doesn’t mean that they never will!! As long as you...

    Do you offer clients refreshments?

I know it sounds petty of me but I’ve got some clients whose houses I have been going to for years and I HAVE NEVER EVER BEEN OFFERED A DRINK EVER!!! (Not even water and sometimes I’ve been there for hours!) so on the odd occasion they have come to me for their treatment I make sure I never...

    Do you offer clients refreshments?

Well I base the offer of a drink on a few factors (I’m mobile and work from home sometimes ) How booked and busy I am & what treatment they have booked in for, if for example it’s a quick eyebrow wax then I wouldn’t offer one. I wouldn’t over think it or make it a “thing” as some regulars will...

    Issues with sticking Lecenté foils

I find sticking foil to the inhibition layer works well WITH A LIGHT TOUCH! Pressing to hard has the opposite effect and it just wants to just slide off! If I have a colour that I know doesn’t work well I just apply my top coat (cure as normal) then apply the foil on that and cure again. The top...

New at acrylics and need help

Honestly....keep at it!! A good nail tech makes things look effortless (which it is not!!) which gives people a false impression that “doing nails is easy!” And then they get disheartened that it’s hard or they just can’t seem to get it! A lot of us have been in the business A LONG TIME & have...

New at acrylics and need help

And the most important thing is your client keeps their hand relaxed! If she isn’t and is subconsciously pulling away from you (which they all do!) this can make your job much harder and also cause you to put extra pressure on, pulling her back towards you! This is one of my pet hates!!!! I I...

    Nail table width?

Are you specifically looking for a Mobile or static table ?

New at acrylics and need help

Maybe your angling the tip cutter upwards slightly without realising, which could be putting undue pressure on the stress area, which could feel like your trying to pull the tip off! Try getting your Mum to put her elbow on the table and dropping her wrist, so her fingers are pointing downwards...

    Waxing!

I would suggest maybe brushing up on normal warm wax timings, before perhaps thinking of training in hot wax, but this of course is just a suggestion. If there is a call for an intimate waster in your area you want to be the best of the best so brushing up on your timing skills would be where I...

    Waxing!

Not to be rude but I’ve read your above post as “your not really great at normal waxing” is that correct?

Why is my brush all bent when I take it out the Shellac bottle?

Last time you had that colour out were you working near a UV source? Light from a window perhaps? Doesn’t have to be direct but prolonged exposure to natural brightness (say during 1 set of nails) could cause this. It’s so gradual & such a slow cure you may not of noticed it at first.

    So slow, please help!

Gel polish removal I had 2 clients on wearing mysterious gel and it took nearly 2 hours! My boss bought actual acetone and lint free pads to use. This has helped sooo much! I’m getting it off in 20-30 mins now Manicure and pedicure- 1 hour- 1 hour 10 mins Hope that helps x In regards to the...

    So slow, please help!

I wouldn’t say “rubbish” but nor are you, stop putting yourself down!!!! I wasn’t perfect but I wasn’t awful, that’s why we train & practice. It’s like taking your driving test the real learning starts when you pass!! Although one thing that I remember when I was at college was practising our...

    So slow, please help!

Also just another thought ...wear a “shelf sitter!” In other words colours that aren’t popular wear them yourself! You’d be surprised how many clients will say they like the colour that you’re wearing & want it on themselves!

    So slow, please help!

Don’t despair we all have to start somewhere & we have ALL been there!! I have a little bit of advice that may help a little .... You need to start setting the precedent if a client turns up late, politely tell them you will only have time to do XY but not Z! If someone turns up with gel polish...

    Getting back into spray tanning

Moroccan tan!! (I get mine from sweet squared) it’s a rapid tan, which means your clients can shower after 2 hours if they so wish. It’s also green based which means none of the famous “oompah loompah orange” associated with fake tan!! They have a good range of colours, including a “Moroccan...
