    How’s business….?

I’m racking my brain - but can’t think how to improve things - theres nothing new, bright or shinny on the horizon …. I actually worry where the industry is going as some folk seem less concerned with their appearance post Covid….😬 There doesn’t seem to be any new trends to woo people in -...

    How’s business….?

Today I had to bin a load of Jane iredale retail make up that had dried up & vitamin supplements that had passed their sell by date ……😫 such a waste - can’t risk retailing anymore - and hairdressing clients are leaving longer & longer between appointments - root touch-ups are always full head -...

    How’s business….?

I haven’t been on here in quite a while - just got to wondering how you guys are finding things… is it just me feeling the pinch?

    Patch tests UK

Have you had any issue regarding the cost of the COLOURSTART from your clients? I have used COLOURSTART for approximately 10 years, and the cost was minimal so I used to give them out freely However as they are now reclassified as a medicine - each test now costs us over £10.00 - and we are...

    Patch tests

Hi folks What are you guys doing about patch testing clients you have booked in on our first week back? I planned on sending out COLOURSTART - but have discovered that instead of them costing me approximately £1.50 each - they are now classed as a medicine and cost price is £10.62!! My clients...

The best way to break up with clients?

I get what you’re saying - but - like all things I wouldn’t be putting all my eggs in one basket! Balayage will be superseded by another look soon enough - and although none of us want to be a ‘jack of all trades’, - we should be cautious not to limit ourselves too much .... I wouldn’t sack...

    Can Olaplex be 'stripped?'

I think so.....🥴 What started as a fabulous new additive that could ‘support’ our colours & perms has now ‘morphed’ into the ‘Holy Grail’ of hairdressing.....😳 As good as it is - it should not be mistaken for a ‘miracle cure’ You cannot expect to bleach/perm highly compromised hair and have a...

    Can Olaplex be 'stripped?'

I feel compelled to comment. I’ve used Olaplex from the get go🤩 I was in fact - one of the first salons in this country to actually get my hands on it - waiting months on a ‘waiting list’ after following Guy Tang ( a fabulous America colourist who was relatively unknown in this country at the...

Anyone else almost done with this industry? Thanks Covid

With companies like ‘iiaa’ selling their products cheap on line..... ‘Lash Perfect’ selling ‘Tint your own brow kits’ on Instagram... ..... and prestigious ‘Celebrity Hairdressers’ doing videos on ‘How to cut your own hair’ I’m sad to report - we’re done! The arse has fallen out of our industry! 🙁

Anyone else almost done with this industry? Thanks Covid

I feel exactly the same - but not in a ‘beaten dog’ way - more of a ‘can’t be arsed’ way! 🥱 Sooo unprofessional of me to say - but it’s how I feel..... I don’t think we’re going to see anything like the interest we had when we reopened in July... Folk have got used to living without us - the...

Looking for advice, working from home

As already mentioned - get permission! Your neighbours will be notified and they have the right to object! Don’t be surprised if they don’t agree - I had been quietly enjoying working from my home studio for a few years when a neighbour caused me to eventually move home - she made my life a misery!

    Different ‘Tier’

Can anyone answer this for me.....🤓 If a client lives in a different tier to the salon, is she allowed to travel into a different tier? The client lives in tier three & the salon is in tier two....🤔

I must be a complete meanie! The way I see it is I give them a fabulous treatment & service and they get excellent value for money..... I ‘owe’ them nothing🤓

    I’m off

😱 No - don’t leave.....! where will you go...? Give it a little longer - we all need somewhere to vent & sound off!

Salon reopening not as busy as thought it would be! Anyone else the same?

Please don’t discount...... This breaks my heart to hear If folk aren’t coming because they are worried about the virus - a discount won’t change their mind! Do not devalue this profession any more Stay strong - add value - have faith... If you are good at what you do, they will return 😉

    Brow lamination help

Not sure I completely agree with the - ‘keep them dry’ advice.....🤔 The worse thing you can do - imo - is not to remove the neutraliser throughly- and that requires at least a wipe over with a damp cotton wool pad! 😉

    Inoa not covering grey

If you need to completely cover white hair INOA will cover If your target is an 8 - use 8.0 for full coverage 😊
  18. RED STAR

    Inoa not covering grey

It is not designed to blanket cover - it gives a slightly translucent finish which I much prefer as it looks more natural...😊 They do however have .0 which will cover completely, if that’s the result your client likes 🤓
