Umm you can't put anything other then metal objects in an autoclave so it would useless for files wooden sticks and other non metal items. An autoclave works by steam and high heat = bye bye non metals. Besides that it would only be useful at the end of the day when you get home as it needs time to sanitize.

Files are dirt cheap as are wooden sticks it's best to use a new one for every client or just makes sure you are disinfecting them well

Nail techs don't need autoclaves.
As the last poster said they are for sterilising metal tools.
As we do not use our tools for any invasive surgery, then it is OK for us to just disinfect our tools between clients.
We can also just disinfect our files.

I use Mundo rapid action disinfectant for my metal tools, and I use Mundo file and abrasive disinfectant spray for my files.
Wooden sticks I don't use very often but I consider them disposables and chuck them after use.

Thee are a few threads on here about what some mobile techs use to carry their disinfectant fluid in, so that they can put their metal tools in it to disinfect whilst they travel to the next client. Screw top jars I think we're the favourite

I throw away orange wood sticks but my files I give them a scrub then spray with Mundo. All my metal tools I disinfect in Mundo solution- didn't think we needed autoclaves?!

This is basic understanding of sanitation which should be taught and reinforced during training...
