Reputation points Explain?

Being fairly new to this site , I'm still trying to get to grips with bits and pieces.
Please can some one tell me:

How do you give good and bad rep.

Also what gives you extra stars under your signature

How did I start off as a Newby Geek and become a Geeklin.

Sound stupid don't I?

you cant at the minute as its been disabled. However if its reinstated at the top of a persons post on the right there will be a button called reputation you just click that and give positive or negative.
To check you repuation you click on profile (top of the page on the right) and scroll to the bottom (not there at the mo tho)

You get more stars as you post more and you can change your names in your settings (click on edit profile under quick links top right)and call your self what you like.

I thought I would post more details on how the system works (just so you are all a lil more au fait with it).
Users may hide their reputation by amending their profile
All users start off with 10 reputation points
Your UserCp home page will display the last 5 reputation alterations you have been given (except for some instances where I may manually adjust your reputation)
All users start with a reputation altering power of 0 points (in other words, you can not alter someones reputation). After 30 posts made on the site, that gets increased to 1 point (and hence, you can start to use your reputation power).
For every year on the site, your reputation power increases by another point.
For every 1000 posts, your reputation power increases by another point.
For every 100 points of positive reputation you receive, your reputation power increases by one more point.
A user may only use their reputation power up to 10 times in a 24 hour period.
A user must use their reputation power on at least 10 other people before they can use it on the same person again. That wasy, no one can get picked on.
All in all it is a pretty cool tool that should be pretty hard to abuse. If you feel it is getting abused, please let me know.

You can give and receive positive rep.............it's negative rep that no longer exists.

With regard to changing your name, it isn't as simple as that. I was told only yesterday that you have to a be a Premium geek and you have to write to Sam (The Geek) to ask his permission. I don't see anywhere you can do this by clicking on edit profile. HTH's
