Uploading large pics to threads, not attachments - 14-06-12, 09:10 PM

I have done a search on this, but it seems all I can find is threads asking about uploading pics from scratch (attachment thumbnails), or uploading from Ipads.

I am using my laptop, am a Preemi Geek, but still cannot seem to upload large images onto threads, only the attachments that you have to click on to see anything.

Can anyone explain (in simple terms ) how they manage to do this?

Thanks.

Always making sure that the photo sizes are within the confines of the sizes permitted as well as having valid file extensions, click the insert image icon on the tool bar.

You will then see a URL prompt.

Thanks Noodle. I tried that the other day, but when the URL window came up, I had no idea what to type in. My pictures are stored on my laptop, should I be using a hosting site in order to get a URL?

If you do not wish to use the photos as thumbnail images (which is simple enough to do from your own computer), then I guess they would have to be uploaded from a hosting site.

I use photobucket and then just copy and paste the IMG code into my post. I find this the easiest way.

I have used Photobucket before, a long time ago. I've fired it back up and have halved the size of my images, down to the very bare minimum of 30% on there and they are still coming out massive when I preview a post. So big that it distorts the page.

I save the new smaller size and make sure it is that new link I am using and it's still not working!

Nicole sometimes you have to wait for photobucket to realise the image has been edited (even when the new link is used) - post it and keep refreshing the page, it will shrink it eventually.

I usually shrink my pics to 640 x 480 as this is large enough on screen but small enough that it doens't affect the page.
nicole333 hearts this.
