I apologise if I'm being TOTALLY thick and I know the answer is going to be REALLY obvious when I find it out but what does lol stand for/mean
I am a new geek and have seen this on loads of the messages I've been reading but for the life of me can't figure out what it stands for!
As a new geek are there any other similar words I should be aware of?

LOL means......Laughing Out Loud.....

I did actually do a search and try to find if there was a list of 'approved' abbreviations to try and avoid looking stupid by asking what they meant - although it didn't help that I couldn't think of the word abbreviation and it's only today seeing your reply that I realised that's the word I've been trying to think of all weekend................
