Question word documents? - 10-05-04, 01:51 PM

I want to put a story into a new thread that is already on my computer as a word document. However, when I post the thread, the copied and pasted document merely shows the title and gobbledigook then fonts and formats etc.

Is it possible to cut and paste? Do I have to change the format in some way? Alternatively do I have to type the whole thing in or add it as an attachment (not sure how to do that yet)?

thanks

Highlight it all, and paste into a new word doc first and see what happens, just to check there is no curruption within the doc that is making this happen. If all is well, you should be able to just copy and paste the wording into a new thread?!

It may be that the PHP here does not recognise Word formatted text - you could try within Word to save your document as a non formatted text document

Quote:
Taken from Word into The Nail Geek as a test doc.
Do a Save As within Word and save doc as text only - you may lose some formatting codes but all the text will be there.

Good luck - can't wait to read the story - it sounds intriguing LOL.

The problem is that the wysiwyg editor gets confused by all the extra formatting spewed out by Word. You have a couple of options.
If it has no special formatting (ie bold or colours) then paste it into notepad, then copy it from notepad into the new message box on the site.
If you want to keep the formatting there, paste it into Wordpad (found in the same place as notepad), copy it from there and then paste it.
The only other option is to click quick links->edit options and change your editor from wysiwyg to standard editor.

Hope that helps.
