Can't we just have pos rep?

Erm so the minority on the site have spoilt it for the majority
I can understand totally why you have taken the decision to remove it I for one have got sick of reading about rep points I think the system does work if used correctly but sadly some are unable to do this.

Shame it had to go. I was enjoying my good clean love.........without utensils!
I haven't really had time to Geek properly for a few weeks so I must have missed all the moaning. As long as everyone keeps posting in a happy and constructive way we'll be fine.

I would love the people who have done so much damage by neg repping all the time to be big enough to admit it but I doubt that will ever happen and I honestly think that banning them would have been better than removing the rep system.

That could have worked, but there will always be a small minority of troublemakers wherever you go. Hopefully we can just rise above them (and send lots of little good post messages.)

This is exactly what i was thinking as i was reading everyones quote's i think it is unfair of those people that haven't got anything better to do!!

Everytime i logged on i looked at my reps as it was a good way to see who i've help and showed their appreciation, altho i did have one bad rep because i said i didn't like watching Marbella babes on telly they told me to 'Lighten Up'? but didn't leave their name!

Like the comment if you haven't got anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. I say this to me littleone when shes' got her "lets wind mummy up" head on.

Maybe we will be more thoughtful and thank geeks in the threads in future, just to let them know we appreciate the help, or maybe a pm will work.
And if we don't agree with someone then we should tactfully explain why.
Serial neg repping (I'm assuming this was happening by a group of people?) is particularly nasty so I can understand in a way why rep has gone, but I suppose the majority have paid the price for the minority...so is life.
Just a thought.
We can still spread the love, just in a different way.x

I agree, with the above, the people (who it was brought to everyones attention last night by Sassy Hassy) are the same ones everytime sending all the neg reps, should be struck off the site. Why should other professionals have to go with out sending there very honest, professional opinions. And i have to say when you are a professional you should take on a curteous, positive and honest attitude as you should be doing this with your clients. Would you give your client a very rude remark if they said something you did not want to hear about yourself or your work........... i think not! I also have to say that i now realise why i don't visit the site as often as i woudl like as some of the feed back can be quite cutting and i thought that this site was supposed to help and encourage people to get positive help and advice, but...........there are always people who have to rock the boat. Well that is my piece said, i hope that the site still has lots of informative threads made by very genuine people who do like to come on and have a truely good time reading about (most of the time) very enjoyable posts.

That will never happen because if we were only able to give positive rep then the whole system would turn into an ego stroking system exercise of what it was intended for.

Yes the minority have caused this to happen but in all honesty we have to ask ourselves how important the rep system was to our everyday lives... ok so it was lovely to be appreciated and receive a positive rep but we can still be appreciative of the people who deserve it, except now we send them a pager or a private message to express our thanks.
