This really is a shame... as now the site could possible be clogged with 'I agree posts' and 'Well said' posts... I think positive rep should still be available but without the negative rep OR, like on other sites.... you could have 'Thank You' rep.... where people can just see how many times a person has been thanked for being considerate, thoughtful and more importantly helpful.

As for the mods, at least you will have less work to do.... and all the nasty neg repping was truly an insight into how the Geeks REALLY were behind the scenes.... which mustn't have been very nice for you. Personally, I prefer to be oblivious to the nastiness that goes on behind the scenes as I like to think this site is a lovely site with genuinly nice people..... not malicious carpers who love, at every possible occasion, to put people down and be truly hurtful.

I am sorry to bump this thread, but I have only just managed to sit down and actually read the threads.

Sad to see the reps go, but if it stops the stupid bullying that has been occurring lately, then so be it.

This site is a life line for me so I'm sure I won't be sinking in to a big depression about it!

Wow! Leave for a few days and the idiots damn near tear the site apart! What has the world come to when people need to cyber-power trip? Aren't these people supposed to be busy with doing nails, hair, skin or something? don't they have children that need to be attended to? Husbands that need love...Pets that need feeding?? GEESH!!!

I am very upset to see the rep system go, I loved logging in to see the nice little comments left by those who have appreciated something I've said or those left by a dear heart who just wanted to give me a little cyber-hug when I was having a crap time, but in the same token I'm glad that the Mod Squad will have an easier go at helping keeping the site humming along.

i am a bit gutted that it has gone, there are alot of us who enjoy the rep system......the ones who hardly ever neg rep anyone unless totally necessary....obviously the ones who neg rep every time they wipe their bums...couldn't care less.
i like giving and getting posotive reps....and the negs i have recieved are very few and probably deserved....but the ones who give neg rep as an (unseen bullying tactic)...grow up.......

Well shame on you who have caused Sam and the Mods to take action like this that has knock on effects and affects everyone who uses the site - in a professional manner.

It was lovely that fellow geeks showed there appreciation for what I had done, said etc.
I shall miss the rep system.

Maybe you lot responsible should go and use a different site - if you can find one that's anything like 10% as brilliant as this one - i doubt it.

What else are you going to do to upset people - and, lets face it people spend a damn load of their own valuable free time providing this site for us and making sure it's running as it should be, do you want to lose the site forever?

I certainly don't, I love this site & I'm grateful to all those people who work so hard to provide it for me to find motivation, knowledge & friends.

To be honest I never really took any notice of the rep thing, don't even know what mine was & suppose I never will! It's a sad fact of life though, get a large group of people together for long enough (even in the cyber world!) & a proportion of those people will develop some kind of gang mentality that leads to unpleasantness. Sad really as we are all adults who come to this site to learn & help each other out.

Find it amusing that the people responsible for this situation may only just be realising that the Mods know who they are (as pointed out by Mrs.Geek). Bet theres a bit of squirming going on!!

I agree with everything everyone has said. I am gutted because I only found my rep the day before it was taken away!! I went to user CP and found all these nice things people had said about me! I was touched and thought ooohhh I am going to do that! and then whoooshh its gone!

To all those that repped me = thank you very much for taking the time to respond to me personally.

The good geeks who appreciate this site for what it is, will continue to work hard for others. The thing that amazes me, is that you would pay in excess of £75.00 an hour for a one to one session with people of the experience of our grand geeks, masters, mods etc and here they offer their advice freely and willingly. I for one dont know where my career would have ended up if it wasnt for this site and then you get some cranks who that just aint enuff for?!?!?!?!?!

On behalf of the majority of the geeks on here I say thank you to all you top bods and now hope that you can continue with your fantastic work without the hassle of the infantile few!!
