I am sorry to go against everyone else here...but I am ABSOLUTELY GUTTED!!!

I worked long and hard to gain my reputation, posting thoughtfully and trying to be helpful.....and having the odd laugh along the way.

I also dished out loads of positive rep using it to encourage the newbies that their posts were important to the site too....and stop lurking.

I suppose I can send a PM when I think someone has posted a great thread or post...but that does tend to open up a whole dialogue which I may not be so keen on IYKWIM.

I think something unique to this site has gone and I shall really miss it....maybe it is all part of making the site more professional only, as I think that is what has been happening of late.
I am ALL FOR THAT but I just liked to pass on some positive comments every so often to my fellow geeks. Obviously I also loved to receive the same.

I hope yellow cards have been given to the petty minded geeks who brought this about.

Sorry Moderators I know it was a nightmare for you to police lately....but I just wish there had been another way.

Now life can be hard for the mods but thought the rep system was a great way of giving and earning respect and rewards!

i agree with everyword....i don't think anyone will bother to pm..."great post"...or "fab advise".......and i don't want to say this on the thread cos its not really allowed.

Shame it couldn't have stayed pos/neg rep....but with no option for leaving a message....as it was only the messages that upset people....not the red blip.

I do have lots going in my life....i am real busy and this isn't really important at all...but i am still aloud to be bothered by it. x

so why not just bring the ability to POS rep back? and do away with the neg?

I go on MoneySavingExpert: Consumer Revenge - Credit Cards, Shopping, Bank Charges, Cheap Flights and more and there is a facility to 'thank' the posters

It would be great to have that but with the facility for everyone to click on another persons rep and read the message. You know they way we could with the gifts.

i totally agree Izzi.......

im gonna really miss my reps and repping... id just managed to reach 1000 rep points too!

i will also miss leaving a wee comment and i dont think a pm will be the same cos you cant direct it back to the thread the same as them just clicking it their user cp

i only pos repped in the yrs that rep as been abt... its a shame that a few had to spoil it for the rest of us

Bring back the rep system but only allow premium geeks to use it

and if they abuse it then they get banned.

The problem is that there are so many ways for people to say things are biased. We don't want people complaining about "geekism" so I understand why it has had to stop. I'm not happy about it, but there are so many ways that people would complain that it's just too much trouble to sort out.

i don't think it was just the ones abusing it that resulted in this....i think it was the moaning about it too....( i hold my hands up to that...in the past !!!...never started a thread about it though)

I can understand the moaning about nasty messages...although shouldn't be done on the site...but i guess it got too much for the mods...understandable...

I cant see it being reinstated...the decision has been made....so thats that then.

i too agree with what izzidoll said.i was just starting to build mine up.im quite gutted to see it go.its a shame that maybe a handful of people managed to ruin it for all the other geeks.im sad to see it go.
