In that case, there shouldn't be a problem for those who want to advertise if there is a cost effective facility already available.

All those common threads that indirectly advertise should be deleted and if the offenders are persistent, they should be banned.

TBH I don't really understand why you can no longer have your website addy or even qualifications posted directly in your signature and why it is now, from what I can gether classed as spamming.

I would be interested to know and understand the thought process behind this new decision.

Is it a cost of running the site issue or something more? Just would like to know why.

You can...its explained above what is allowed and how.

What we don't want though are banner type ads that have been appearing and are no longer a signature..its purely advertising...and that should be paid for....which yes does go to helping with the costs of running the site.

OK so I understand what you can and can't do although I'm not really sure what a 'banner' signature is....but still I would like to know the rationale behind it....how could the site make some more money from small time techs, and I incluse myself in this, by adding their services and wesite addy to their sigs?

If you look at the advertising options on this site....Scroll to the bottom of this page and click on the Advertise link..it gives you a tad more info.. then if you click Book your advertising space here, a new text window opens and you can a note direct to Samuel and he can then advise you some more.
Advertising this way means, every official advertiser supports this site and its reason for being here in the first place and in a way becomes a Geeky board/forum sponsor, so every penny raised goes back to the site and offsets the running costs.....

Advertising cost break down options:

Your add can appear for only a fraction of pennies a few pounds or say 1,000 appearances!).
Automatically cap your exposure per day to control your costs. Only want to appear say 2,000 times per day? Then you will only spend your capped amount.
Target visitors based on the country they are in!
Oh and verbiage means an overabundance of words, the way something is expressed in words.....

Just another thought.
The advertising banner is a fab facility to those that want a higher profile, more visability. This is realy for people that have something to sell for example, training, education, product lines and such, those that want maximum exposure.

But you can also enter your details in the links section and then link it with a simple word like MY Stuff or MY SITE or something similar, the best bit about this its FREE!!!!!!! It doesn't cost anything, just a bit of time and efffort to enter your details........

What is in the links Forum, well lots really have a look:

Distributor Sites
Places to purchase professional nail stuff (legally and legitimately)
Education Sites
Education information for the professional (or wanting to be professional) nail tech.
Manufacturer Sites
A directory of Professional Nail Manufacturer web sites.
Member showcase
A showcase of members sites
Misc Sites
A place to stuff other web sites of interest

We are not about moeny, but about a fair playing field for those that can afford it and those that can't.....

I've enquired about advertising on this site a few times and I can't get a straight answer to these questions:

How much is the big banner ad at the top of the page?

How much are the small Google ads that appear at the top of the page?


Also, as you can see, I've taken my banner off (I'm a good girl I am) but how come people are still postig with their banners on, even though they know.

And (don't stop me, I'm on a roll)............the threads started by mates which are obviously advertising? Why don't the mods just delete them there and then? That's easy enough. Can't the mods remove banners as some people seem to be dragging it out.

But you know what? I really couldn't care less what other people do, as long as wer'e all treated the same.

I suggested paying to have a banner signature and Urban Geek put it so much better than I did. How about the Super Premi of £100 a year to have an advertising signature. And no mumping threads up with 'Coolio' and 'Yeah babe'. No, the posts have to genuine replies.
