Due to the new geek commandment rule number *#21 (below) we have to ask all geeks, that if you have a banner/box type add in your signature, could you please edit this.
An advertising type banner/box is in short, a banner/box that advertises any service you may offer and stand to gain from financially via this Forum.
For an example of how it should look, check out the signature at the bottom of this post;
You can link your website by using the hyperlink option in your signature editor..

What can you link it to, well the choice is your guys......... Your Website..... Members Show Case..... Distributors Forum …. Industry Links aso.

To link your signature could not be easier:
Open your Signature editor.
In your Signature box, type your choice of words for example: My Website and highlight those...then click the insert link button that looks like a blue globe with a link on it..a little box will pop up and here you insert your website or linking URL. The linking URL is displayed in your address bar when you open your say for example Webpage or Forum Showcase site. Copy and paste this into the little opened Hyperlink box. When your happy with that click on save signature.

*21 - Thou Shalt Not Advertise in Your Signatures.
Signatures are not a place to advertise. Promotional verbiage in off-site links will be treated the same as spamming.

What does verbiage mean?

Can I make a suggestion? I'd willingly pay, say a £100 a year to salongeek to be able to add a banner to my signature advertising my courses. This way, it would only benefit people who actualy contribute to the site and don't just come on here to promote their biz as they'd have to post for their signature to be seen. xxx

Could there not perhaps be a "Super Premium" facility which Premium geeks (if they are making valuable input and frequently active) could subscribe to which would allow them to post a small ad in their signature box.

I know that advertising isn't allowed on this site but it happens indirectly so often anyway. It would be a way of rewarding contributing members of the site who want to promote themselves to fellow geeks for the valuable input they give.

The site would still be seen as impartial. It would be a level playing field for all and if someone wanted to promote their services they could become Premium and after a certain period of positive activity on the site they could qualify to apply for Super Premium. This could perhaps encourage those industry leaders who are not members to be a bit more pro-active in contributing and getting them on board.

I just feel that it would be nice to see ALL of those fab geeks who constantly answer questions and help out fellow geeks benefit in some small way.

Just a thought.

I really don't see what the problem is with advertising. Why not just have a new section for advertising then us geeks can still benefit.

There are so many valuable, knowledgable geeks on here with training or help to offer and i personally think it's great.

I have arranged training days with geeks through their advertising & i've bought products from geeks which have transformed the way i work.

Having their adverts on their sigs helps everyone know they are available.

How can we aim to be the best if we are not trained by the best?

I don't see the problem with it either, as long as they aren't posting just to advertise, but the rules have been set, we've just got to follow them.

BTW I think super premmie geeks sounds good.

There is an advertising option....Paid for Banners.

There is also the Links Directory...Member Showcase...Distributor Sites.....Manufacturors Sites....Education Sites.....isnt that enough ???

You can have any one of those and put what you want about what you do in there and then have a hyperlink to it as part of your signature.

Is there any discount to paid for banners for active members of the site who are constantly giving valuable input?
