Real Mink lashes? - 10-10-09, 10:29 PM

Is anyone using the real mink lashes yet instead of the faux mink lashes?

I have seem pics and they do look good and seen a few suppliers in the U.S.

I was thinking of ordering some as the pics i have seen look really good, I am getting great results with the faux mink lashes but they are very black and very glossy. I love that they are on trays so I work much quicker and as they seem lighter clients are coming back with more on at the infil stage, I was thinking of just having faux mink lashes and the real mink lashes as a luxury treatment.

I know there are going to be some people who dont like the use of animal hair etc but its personal opinion, my clients can choose what they like.

Anyone?

I have read a fair amount about them from the other chat however I have not tried them. Apparently they are taken in a cruelty free manner from brushing the minks. Some lash stylists are very creative in the way they are using them. The only negative I have heard from someone are that they tend break easier and they have a tendency to lose their curl. They are fairly expensive so you'd have to have another price point for these lashes. Some like to mix them in with the synthetics and the faux minks.

PS I sent you a PM- I hope that helps!!

Personaly, I wouldnt dream of using real mink lashes, but that of course is a personal/ethical reason that we are all entitled to
I have been told that they are a little harder for clients to keep tidy, and obviously, if someone has an animal fur allergy, its a no go. They are about a .10 thickness, and the curl is not universal, obviously as its a natural substance. They do look nice in pics I have seen. The trend in the us seems to be that they charge more as they are more costly to buy etc.
As for popularity, Im not sure that the uk is ready for real animal fur on their lashes! Im not sure that anyone would buy the "harvested without animal distress" tag as we know that Minks are vicious animals that wouldnt lay down nicely while we brush them I would say do a bit of research with your clients/area to see what the vibe is to prevent you making a potential costly mistake

You will find that a lot of clients will experience an allergy problem with animal hairs been used so close to the eye,
also check with your insurance company as to if you would be covered for using them in your lash treatments before spending all that money them, hth

Apparently they are hypo allergenic but I think the question is still out on just exactly how they are harvested from the little critters!

Linda at BLASHES and Scott at Premier both sell the authentics.
