I have snakeskin legs if left to their own devices! Oil is the best and quickest way to solve this but it should be applied to damp skin, preferably after a soak in the bath! If the oil is running off her skin then she is applying too much at a time. She may not be giving it enough time to soak in. Oil will sit on top of the skin to begin with rather than lotions which seem to rub in!

I agree, some excellent advice here. The more 'lipid' (fatty) a product is, the easier it will be absorbed into the cells. |

Wonder if it is her diet, maybe as a weight watchers leader she restricts the fats in her diet.I know on Rosemary conley my leader stressed the importance of an oil supplement and on allowing yourself oily fish.
If using oils she should use cold pressed vegetable oils mineral oils tend to just sit on the surface and do not penetrate. |

Ask her to take a look at Pure Fiji Skincare.
It is a natural skincare line they does various bath and body products. I would recommend the a coconut sugar exfoliator, the bath and body oil, as well as a coconut body butter. All pure fiji products have pure virgin coconut oil in them as base, and virgin coconut oil has a high concentration of "lipids" which would be perfect to solve your friends problem. They also have a website so you can order online Pure Fiji | Tropical Bath and Body Care |

I had a client on a reduced calorie diet and she had very dry skin which improved massively after I told her to eat more oily fish!

Pure shea butter... almond oil.. jojoba oil... ALL fabulous for skin.
I have recently made a Moisturizing Body Balm that people are going BESERK for and can't get enough. It's made of (all 100% pure/cold pressed): Shea Butter, Coconut Oil, Almond Oil, Jojoba Oil, Rice Bran Oil, Lime Essential Oil (for scent). My mom swears by it, and had aligator legs before. Same with several clients. Great for dry hands, elbows, hands, and feet. May also be used for chapped lips BUT isn't flavoured... so.... Get away from products containing Petrolatum/petroleum/mineral oil/vaseline. All one in the same, different formats. NONE penetrate the skin and only leave a coating. Like putting oil on a rusty hinge. Takes away the squeak, but leaves the rust there. Whereas, natural oils such as above will penetrate the skin and actually hydrate, therefor effecting a difference. hth's |

My mum has lizard legs (as she calls them) and I retail a natural body exfoliate that she uses and swears by. The scrub works by removing the build up of dead skin cells allowing the natural oils to penetrate the layers of the skin.
For a home remedy I would suggest making a body scrub using about 80gms of rock/sea salt, 20-30ml olive oil, you could also try adding 1 teaspoon ground coffee beans (optional). Sitting on the edge of the bath with feet in the bath tub, apply the scrub, massage vigorously yet gently and then rinse off with warm water and pat legs dry. V your Moisturising Body Balm sounds absolutely divine. I recommend going for a steam distilled lime essential oil, instead of cold pressed which is photosensitive - can cause skin to discolour. Lemon myrtle would also be a nice substitute with it's lovely lemon scent. |
