Thuya lash perming - 06-11-09, 12:25 PM

I use Thuya for my perming and tinting.

However, I find that the lashes are not as curled as I would have anticipated.

I apply the lotion to the root area, and follow all instructions. Do you all use the clingfilm as instructed? I do and dont know if this makes any difference.

Also, salonsystem have new lashperm rods that are "new and improved". has any one tried these yet, and are they any better? Dont want to waste my money!

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thankyou

The curl isn't determined by the application of the perming lotion it is down to the size of the rod.
You might be using a rod that is to big for the lashes this would cause them not to have such a defined curl.

I always use the cling film when applying them.

I agree with klassy klaws... perhaps use a smaller rod?? Larger rods give more of a lift rather than a curl. When u have a perm on your hair u use a plastic cap... cling film works in the same way... keeps the heat in to activate the perm solution xxx

Hi

I use the Thuya with good results. Make sure the rod size is correct and apply lotion to the middle of the lashes - not the roots and not the ends. The clingfilm will press down and spread it enough to these areas. Use a small folded towel over the top of the clingfilm.

I actually use a small wheatbag eye pillow (unheated) which sits really nicely over the top, instead of a towel.

I have been reading previous threads and the general concensus was to apply to the root area? I will try just the middle next time. I have also tried it with solution all over lashes too.

I thought I was using correct size roller, if im in any doubt then I do use smaller size one. I was trained short lashes = small roller, long lashes = large rollers. I take it this is correct?

Also, anyone tried the new salonsystem lashperm rods yet?

Thanks for all your replies xx

Using the perming solution over the entire lash will cause over processing.I only ever apply to the root only. Are you ensuring you are placing the rod as close to the lash root as possible? If there is too much of a gap this will affect the curl. Also its important not to use too smaller rod as the curl wont look natural and the lashes will go back on itself too much. Are you ensuring there is no oil on the lashes?and correctly neutralising?

Small generally is for short lashes, medium for medium length and large for long lashes

Incidently I use Amirose and do NOT use cling film.I get an excellent result. Not all perms are the same and its important we follow manufacturers instructions.HTH

I have very short lashes and recently had an eyelash perm which did not work to my dismay. They used the salon system one and used the smaller rollers. I asked my teacher at tech and she thought it would because my eyelashes are so short and it didn't work????? Maybe she has really short ones as well? We're just unlucky with eyelash perms!

My lashes are extremely short and my perm worked.I would suggest you go back to the salon who permed them and ask for another perm....or a refund.Sounds like the perm lotion wasnt left on for long enough or oil was on lashes. Are you on medication?

We use AHFrancis perming/setting solutions but get rods from whoever we're ordering from at the time we're running low on them (AHF charge a lot for delivery)
Have a selection of Thuya, Salon Systems &AHF - all slightly different sizes but all work well as long as glue is good

thanks for the advice, that's what you get when you try to get stuff done on the cheap and going to the beauty salon at the tech. Mentioned it to my teacher and she has said I can either get it done again, or something else instead. I think she was probably a bit too quick as when I did the training they said it was about a 45min treatment, I was probably about 25 mins, or she's just not done many! Oh well back to the eyelash curlers for me anyway.
Thanx

How many sets have you done ?

I must admit I used Thuya and could never get it just right. I decided in the end it was down to my technique and as it wasn't a very popular treatment with my clients I decided to stop offering the treatment as I just wasn't getting the practice I needed.

I know it was me and not the products as the girl that did mine on the training got them absolutley perfect and that was the first time she'd ever done them.

I have only done four sets, one rebooked. I have used salonsystem before with not great results either.

When I trained, I got great results. My old employer was the trainer for Susan Molyneax products and for lash perming. Think it was S Moly for this. Infact, I will post a new thread for this and see if any other geeks use this system.
