Lol Increasing facial clients - 01-02-10, 11:18 AM

HI

I have been qualified for a year and half now and although I have a good client base I was wondering if any of you had any ideas how I increase the number of facial clients. At the moment I do a lot of massage and while i enjoy it it can get very tiring on some days.

Do you include the face when you are doing a massage at all.
I do a 1 1/2 hour treatment which is like a full facial and while the masks are on etc i massage the rest of the front of the body. Then after ive finished the face i do the back.Maybe introduce this as a special offer for spring.
Once people have a facial they often really love them and will have more as they realise that they can be just as relaxing as a full massage but make sure that you do actually do lots of massage 20 mins on face and i also do scalp right at the end after ive moisturised.
Stress the importance of relaxing the facial muscles and that massage is brilliant for anti aging like a natural form of botox .

Do you promote your facials well,i.e posters, products, recommend them? What products are you using for your facials? Is it time for some investment in new products or new advertising?Perhaps do a facial promotion,10% off.Have you had other facial training other than that of college?Just some ideas.
We also do a massage with the face and scalp incorporated in it however the facial moves are different than that of a Darphin facial, still gives the client a feel of what a facial massage is like though

Could I ask what skincare range are you currently using & what do you currently offer facial treatment wise, as this will help someway in identifying how you could sell your facials to your clients. Facials are one of my big three treatments, and taking into account the amount of products I retail as a result are my most profitable service.

As therapists we try to provide solutions to people's problems, so when a client comes in & says there skin is a little dry, ask them if they've ever thought of trying a facial & then explain the treatment to them in irresistable terms. For example, all of my Decleor facials begin with a relaxing back massage using aromatic oils, so if I have a client who has massage normally & they have dry skin I suggest they try a facial sometime, which not only includes a back massage but also 20 minutes of facial massage with aromatic oils & balms, as well as a relaxing hand & arm massage whilst the poultice masque is on, and a hot towel compress to remove the masque. These things entice the client into trying the treatment as it answers their need & gives them a new experience to try.

It's all about finding opportunities where you can bring up the subject of facials, and this can include dry skin (topical at the moment with the weather & central heating), concerns about ageing, wanting a relaxing treatment (maybe suggest to your massage clients that one time they might like to try something different like a facial), not sure what to use a gift voucher on etc. I tend to have an offer on a certain type of facial periodically, which allows me to say to clients "just to let you know there's a special offer on the X facial at the moment", and after explaining what it entails the booking inevitably comes straight after!

I introduced loyalty cards for facials, if they had 5 they received a full body massage (or whatever you want to offer) they worked really well.
