Hi , I did wet shaves with a cut throat razor hot towels and face massage, as part of my NVQ Barber course
I think if you like it you will do very well, The wet shave is a fantastic pamper package for men especially with the hot towel and face massage , they love it Ill bet while they are there they would love a hair cut and manicure or pedicure too, We used a lot of American crew products for men which were fab, you could ask your local college if you could just do this NVQ unit on its own ? Let us know how you get on and good luck . |

wet shaves (with a cut throat) are illegal in many countries (you will more than likely have to use a disposable)... and often you have to be a trained barber to do them ..... be very careful what you offer and what your insurance will cover. It's fab to offer a different service, but be aware of your limitations.
Just for fun blow up a balloon, apply shaving cream and pretend. It's not as easy as it looks. |

In answer to the last reply of "you need to be a trained barber to offer the service" is not correct. We had a company called ShaveSchool in to train 2 stylists and 1 receptionist as we thought she had potential and she was very keen to learn- the receptionist turned out to be our best performing shaver and she grasped it very well and she earned the Platinum award the highest there is from the MensgRoom company. As for insurance the majority of insurers have no issue and will gladly add wet shaves to the policy document as long as you inform them about the additional service. Cut throat razors are not illegal anywhere in the world unless of course they are using the traditional straight razor that does not have a disposable blade - you will find the majority in the wet shave industry are now using great cut throat razors with disposable blades, one per client.
