Semi permanent make-up?

Hi All,
I am really interested in getting my lipliner tattooed on, but I am diabetic and epileptic (lapsed) and wondered if this contra-indicated me?
Could anyone answer my question please?
Has anyone had it done?
Does it hurt?

Hi Emma, Yes, I'm afraid it does, but if you get a letter from your doc giving the go ahead, you'll be fine. It's just that we need to know that it's 100% safe for you and that you don't come back at a later date and sue us. Your tech would need the letter for their insurance. xxx

Hi Hun,
I had my lip liner done 3 years ago, can't advise on medical side.
It is uncomfortable........I would not say painful, but I may have a high pain threshold, the most uncomfortable bit is the cupids bow on your top lip. The lady who did mine kept re applying cream to numb the area. I had a top up done 3 months later, and will probably have it re done in about 12 months. My line is still very defined, I went for a quite dark colour, that is why it has lasted so long. I was told it would fade, approx 2 - 4 years and then wouldn't be noticeable. Hello Emma,

This is a tricky one.

Like the Wax Queen advied, you need to seek medical advise and produce a medical note from your GP, which as a gambler i bet that it would be harder than winning the lotto.

I hope you don't mind me asking?

Is your Diabetes controlled by diet? as a PMU tech i am allowed to work on clients with diabetes, diet controlled only. (Insulin dependant is a NO NO)

Your Epilepsy, when was your last seizue?

Please remember to consult your GP first with any medical condition, take with you some information on the treatment you are interested in and ask for their opinion. GP's usually leave it upto the individual.

Lip treatments can bleed alot, the lips are very vascular.(I work in a dental practise and have the added benefit of using the dentist for dental blocks for lip treatments, pain free)

If you are ok to go with you desired treatment, I would recommend lip blush,
this is a softer more blended lipliner, Va Va Voom for lips.

Hi Jenny,
Thanks for the above information,
I am insulin dependent diabetic - controlled.
I havent had a fit for about 9 years and am now off all epilim (anti-convoultion) tablets.
Thanks for the advice, is there a good piece of information about semi permenent make-up I could print off to show my diabetic nurse?

I was wondering about getting this done. I have suffered from cold-sores for years and years and my lip line is very undefined from all the scarring. If I have it done would future cold-sores ruin the line?

Hiya

Herpes Simplex- virus is a infection and of unknown origin. Commonly called Fever Blister or Cold Sore, the blister usually appears on the lips, nostrils or other parts of the face, and rarely last more than a week.

If you have a history of these breakouts, it is recommended that you take a course of Zovirax tablets prior to your lip procedure, it sometimes helps to take them after treatment. to prevent breakouts.( 5 days prior to treatment and 5 days after treatment)

If you decide on any treatment that requires you to take any sort of medication, consult your GP first.

I suffer with Cold Sores, thanks to my husband.

If you were to go ahead with lip procedure, it's advised that you have regular re-touch of colour 12-18months. If your lips have lost definition from these breakouts, them permanent cosmetics can help put some definition back and an added colour boost.(natural lip tones are very in at the moment, if you go darker shades on lips and the fashion changes you are stuck, choose natural shaded that compliment your skin tones)

I have a question along the lines of permmanent make-up... how well does doing your eyebrows look and how long does it last... You're not really using them for much, so shouldn't they last longer? And how painful is it? I have no eyebrow really and I've been thinking about it for a while...

Hiya Kajai,

Brows with a good tech are worth paying for.
How long they last depends alot on lifestyle as well as colours used, the pigments are designed to fade in time.
Some other things that will help the colour loss: exposure to UV and over exfoliation of the area..remember that we only work in the dermis which is the exfoliation part of the skin.(not implanted as deep as convetional tattoos)

The darker the pigment the longer the brows will last (18months and can last upto 5yrs), the lighter the pigment the more frequent you will need a colour boost, around 12-18months.

The procedure can make your eyes water, but not painful, we use topicals numbing creams before treatments and another topical cream after the skin has been opened if required.

State of the art technology, fantastic training schools and and great products gives you a safe alternative to conventional make-up that can last for many years.

Still on the same thing...sort of.
I was watching Miami ink the other night and two fellas who had phase 1 (probably got the description wrong if so apologies) and they still had tattoos done lots of them? Maybe things are different in USA??
I so want my brows done, it will be a pain in the ass when I have to keep applying them when I remove my crash helmet!

Hiya

Thre are 2 treatments for brows that are usually in the price quoted, first application then 4-6 wks 2nd application (this will ensure you are happy with the colour fade, shape and will give you the added colour boost to keep you going for 12-18months or many years depending on the colour that best suite your natural sskin tones.
Essex, not sure if the Brow Queen is nearer to you?

OHHHHH just had a thought, my trainer Debra Robson-Lawrence was looking for a model(advertised on her web under training) this Fri 29th for one of our training days at Harley Street London (Normal price charged is £450-500 i think) she is asking for £350, geraldine is doing the procedure she is very good.

Sounds interesting... I'll definitely have to look into it.. there aren't alot of places on the island or even in the main land that I'd actually trust tho...
