At the end of the day if its something she wants to do and has her heart set on it working then there is no reason why it cant work for her if she does it part time keeping a reglar job on as well to secure some income. its relatively in expensive to set up your not going to loose thousands if its not working out. i say go for it i took a chance going mobile setting up on my own 13 years ago although it took me 2 years and a lot of hard work and all the hours god sends its been well worth it i make a good living and im now looking at opening my own salon. If shes looking at adding nails to it aswell this is a good idea and there are loads of other things she can do over time if shes interested in making a business for herself earning money for herself and has enthusiasm and a passion for it she will do all she can to make it work. Good luck. You only get one life go for it or she will be full of regret.

Can I just add that it is great that your lady has at least vital aspect sorted! A supportive partner! I know if my fella wasn't supportive, this business would have been a lot harder!

Seriously, good luck though. I wholeheartedly agree that a bit of shopping around for solutions in in order.....and probably a few trips round the local salons to try out a few different tans. Worth making a list of the important factors, such as inital application colour, how long it took to develop, how long did it last and dd it fade well, and then giving each tan 'marks' for each factor.

And why not get her on here herself....she'll pick up loads really quickly just by reading , and probably handing out great advice to other newbies in a few months time!

Hiya, I work part time in an insurance brokers mornings 9 - 1.30 mon - fri but have Thursdays off to catch up on housework or fit in the odd tan if needed during the morning. Your car insurance wont cover your kit! might be able to get it added 'all risks' to your house insurance though?

I would not want to give up my day job even though I am really busy with the tanning at the moment as I dont think the tanning is reliable enough.. sometimes you think you will be busy and someone will cancel, you'll get there and they arent in etc etc, at least I know what I earn in the office pays the bills!

I find that most of my clients want to be sprayed in the evening after they get home from work and I only have a handful that want it done in the day, these I either do after I finish in the office or on a Thursday. Or they want it done at the weekend. My busiest days are Thurs and Fri ready for the weekend so you may find that the split in areas could cause a problem where this is concerned? I do get bookings early in the week but not half as many as on a Thurs and Friday!

I dont find mobile hard with regards to carrying my kit, I just take my tent over my shoulder and a bag in one hand. It was doing nails mobile that was a killer for me! I dont do nails anymore
