I sprayed a client last night around 7pm with 10% tantrick. She washed it off this morning and says her face and arms are still quite pale. She is due back at 10. Do you think I should spray her on these areas again with 12% and ask her to wash it off within about 5 hours. she is going out tonight! Or just touch up these areas with the 10% again? She did mention that the last spray tan she got didn@t take very much at all, maybe it is her skin type?

I would spray the problem areas again and she should see a difference.

I got a friend to spray me recently and she missed parts of my lower leg, so I reapplied myself and they were so brown! Also my chest doesn't go as brown as others parts of me. Maybe just because they don't see the sunlight!

I resprayed her face and arms with the 10%. Her face was a little pale considering it was a 10. If I did a 10 on me I would be very dark! Her arms were a little patchy in areas but she is a serial self-tanner and they were a bit patchy to start with.

She is texting me later to let me know how it turns out.

Spray tan removal for respray

Hi all. Just a wee up-date. After the 2nd re-spray she text me later that night (as I asked her to) to say that there wasn't much difference! She was still quite pale. She thinks she should try the 12 next time but I am stumped and this has knocked my confidence.

It doesn't help that my shadez machine burnt out last week and and has been sent off for repair. I am using my argos nuress machine which i got with my tantrick training. I am hoping that it is not the machine at fault, and that it is just this particular client's skin. I was really confident with the tanning before this. I have a tan to do tomorrow and am dreading it now!

I think I might ask her to come over later to see how dark she is and maybe spray her the 12%. Does this sound like a good idea?

I'd suggest to her that maybe she is just one of those people that doesn't tan with DHA solution. there are some....not many.

Why not tell her that technically the 12% is too dark for her, and therefore you shouldn't be doing it, but if he wants to take a patch test first thats her choice then, but you won't do it without patch testing?

And while you are at it....patch test youreself too. Then you'll know if the machine is playing up.

I just don't understand why the tan is not taking. I have seen her in the past with a lot of fake tan on her face and it was very dark, almost black in some areas of her face. To the point that I first thought she did have a skin condition that caused uneven skin tone. When she came to me for the tan though she did look quite pale and skin tone was even.

Could it be that her face and arms have become immune to dha due to various home products over the years? Or this a ridiculous question? It's just that her legs were fine.

TBH, it almost sounds like some kind of hormonal problem to me. I've seen a girl with these light and dark patches (not sprayed by me) when she was pregnant. She came to me to ask if there was anything that could be done, and the place she'd gone to hadn't even done a client consultation first, never mind check if she was pregnant.

Now I'm not saying your lady is preggers.....but have you checked she isn't on any meds at all that may affect her hormones? HRT, Clomid? Prepping for IVF? Even some Ayurvedic herbal stuff can affect them....especially things that are taken to regulate cycles or boost fertility? And it's personal question but check where she is in her cycle. If she's about 2 weeks in she could be about to ovulate and some people's skin can be a touch more sensitive then, although tbh, thats a fairly long shot, as I've never seen patches, just a quicker reaction to DHA at this point.

And is she prepping the skin correctly....do you have any prep wipes? So at least you could clean an area for patch testing and know it would be OK?

What was her skin tone originally? And type? Does she have oily skin? Is there anyway her skin could be producing excess oil between her exfoliating and you spraying?

Don't let it knock your confidence hun, the fact that you are on here trying to sort it and caring, shows you are a good therapist.....but tbh, I'd get your machine sorted ASAP, as the Nuress one isn't going to help you confidence, never mind anything else! If you test on yourself and come to think it is the machine, you may be best off simply apologising that you've had equipment failure and offering her a freebie session in a couple of weeks when you've sorted it?
