Well ive been mobile for 10 years and ive really enjoyed it it took me 2 years to build a decent client base and the best thing is you can pick and choose who you want as a client and who you could live without! Now i have my regular clientelle so i know my apps day by day and i only do people i like and make it easy for me.
Im full time and my days are nearly always booked up. I found it hard carrying round a beauty couch and steamer so i cut facials out and when i do waxing i generally do it on the clients bed . you 'll find your way its only been 6 months give it a year at least then see how you feel your overheads are less than renting !!x |

Yep - being doing it years and it really annoys me sometimes.
I class it as - having to be on time for work 6 times a day or more - its stressful especially in traffic and taking my bed up 2 flights of stairs is back breaking. I love the flexibility but then the busier you get the less flexible it becomes - and the more stressful it is. The natural progression is to move onto a rented room - which is probably better but then there are lots of clients who prefer the home service who you will lose. |

nope im with you too, i hated it, only did a little bit but like you i couldnt stand lugging my stuff round with me!
I think the 'overheads' are neither here nor there really, because i dont think i would get half the clients i do if i were mobile. SO by paying rent i actually do more clients to cover it. I dont think i could make the same money being mobile, as i have alot of clients that have short treatments (10-30 mins) which if i were mobile i wouldnt do. i think that makes sense lol. |

Hi Hun,
I am with you, I rented salon space for 15 months, rooms above a hairdressers, but because of problems with salon owner, She was losing hair clients...so in turn those same clients were my clients they would not come through her shop to me. But to be honest before her problems touched my clients I was doing great. So salon sounds like it could work best for you. So I went mobile, by golly it is hard work.............wow too much for me, could not stand dragging my gear all over the place, clients wanting to put the washing in the dryer when I had just stuck tips on, or worse put nail forms on...........nightmare..........and kids...........and dogs. Calmly tell you now I have a small home salon, but haven't done much at home yet, not really tried, been too busy with hubby's business. I only do spray tanning mobile, which I love, that is so easy to do mobile. I have been offered nail desk in a new salon, so that is where I expect I will be next. It is very stylish and beautiful, all new. Oooooh! All you lovely mobile techs I hold my hat off to you, you really do work hard, and have to put up with a lot, but as was said you can eventually pick and choose..........Remember some people rely totally on mobile techs. Lotsa luv to all you mobile girls, I just wasn't cut out for it. Good luck with whatever path you take. Lotsa luv x ![]() |

I hated it with a passion, absolutely hated every minute of it.
by the time you've lugged your massage couch in, set it up, put all the towels in, placed the oils on a table that can't be damaged in any way, then do a consulation before you've done the treatment, then HAVE TO DO THE TREATMENT. I also found it awkward when it was time to pack up, and an hour's treatment would be about 2 hours. Phew! glad I'm out of that. I used to get one client that would open her mail, answer the phone, go upstairs for 15 minutes, then 'faff' around before she would sit down for her treatment. That went on for about 6 months (she was one of my first client's), until I got wise and deducted it out of her treatment, so if she faffed it was IN HER TIME. |
