Hi All

Can anyone please give me some guidelines on mixing different %tage tanning solutions? I currently work with Sienna X and am generally using the 8% and 10% solutions, however the 8% solution does seem to come out a bit light on some of my clients - although I wouldn't necessarily think that their skin could take a 10% either without the dreading orange effect. If I mixed the two together, would I really get something in the middle??

I was told at my training that mixing solutions would not have any effect, ie the darker one would prevail anyway, but reading some threads on here would indicate that's not the case.

Although I have heard of techs who mix their percentages, i wouldn't personally try it. It could lead to patchy tans and numerous complaints from clients!

I would recommend that you don't start mixing different percentages and that you lee those sorts of things with the manufacturers who do the blending under controlled situations.

There must surely be enough percentage mixes available to carry sufficient % mixes and avoid any complications when making home brews

As an experiment, and to satisfy your own curiosity, why not try it out on a friend ?

Some solutions can be mixed, but it depends on the formulation and you need to check with your manufacturer as to whether it is possible. From memory, I think Sienna-x is not advised to be mixed. between strengths.

The two solutions that I do know definitely can be mixed as I have checked with the suppliers, is Celebrity Secrets and Vani-T. I use Celebrity Secrets myself and do mix with great success on a regular basis.
