Waxing stretchmarks - 12-10-08, 05:04 AM

I have been waxing for only a few months now and have a client who wants a bikini wax and the top of her bush (sorry didnt know how to put it) under her c-section waxed, so she is left with a nice triangle. Problem is she i covered in stretchmarks in this area and the skin is quite thin and loose.
I have stetchmarks on this area to, when I wax it sometimes I take some skin off and it leaves me quite sore like bad sunburn for a day or two.
I do not want this to happen to my client at all. I have been using a hot wax for sensitive skin and also a hard wax for sensitive skin and areas, but found both seem to have the same result on myself. I also have tried using a talc on the skin before application.

I cant work this one out and any advice would be gladly appreciated

Thanx your a gem...

I have found in my experience if you want to wax over a stretch mark, you can do it but you need to take extra care. make sure you are supporting the skin extremly well and use lots and lots of talc!! My personal opinion is when you are waxing you can never use too much talc!! especially when it comes to the bikini area. But if your client's stretch marks are really bad maybe try waxing around them and just plucking the hairs within the stretch marks with tweezers? Good luck with it all!

Always use oil on any sensitive area (under the wax). When you stretch the skin, don't stretch it too hard and you'll be fine. xxx

I have used talc on myself and yes it is better but some areas like the leg fold/line the wax still seems to take some skin.
I have heard using an oil can also help for sensitive areas, does anyone do this and will it work. I would love to help this lady out and she is waiting for my reply on wether i can and will do her waxing.

Thanx

using talc is pretty old fashioned, and i have a feeling that you are not meant to use it anymore. i cant give much more detail than that, as i could be wrong. But i am sure i read somewhere it wasnt meant to be used.

You are right hun as it can lead to cancer if inhaled. Midwifes have even been told not to advise mothers to use it on their babies!

as far as im aware its not so much the being inhaled its putting it 'down there' or near that area .Its just its been linked to ovarian cancer in women . It still hasnt been confirmed as such but they have been doing tests to see if there is any truth in the theory .

When I did my warm wax training in July, the trainer used talc. I suggested that oil was better (as seen on SG ) and she looked at me like I was an alien and said, 'surely that would cause the wax to slip, I don't think that's a very good idea' and before I could explain myself properly, she kind of dismissed me and moved on!

I use baby oil, sparingly, and it works fine. Will be getting some PR jasmine oil though when I've run out.

Sorry, didn't answer your q! As above, if you make sure it is stretched and supported and don't repeatedly go over the area, you should be fine.

HTH's

xx
