Hi ya,
I specialise in Bridal make-up have been doing it for a number of years. I find that most people that book are normally very unsure about make-up and how to apply it. My advice is to keep it simple, obviously blend, blend, blend. If your using shimmer eyeshadows on lid dont use on brow and vice versa, take your time and listen to what the bride wants. They generally have to wear slightly more than normal otherwise it wont show on photos especially december the light is going to be darker. Have a look at my site www.beautifulbridebycomplexions.co.uk may give you some ideas, everyone is different but I think the key is listen to your client. Hope this helps you, good luck and enjoy it I love it. Dawn x ![]() |

Blush, i know what you mean. I blagged my way through my first "other treatments" and i did ok, so i think the aim is to be and sound confident and not to tell the client its your first time or they will be more nervous as you :-)
Its a pitty we are not near each other we could have practiced and gave each other tips. good luck. x |

I have just got married and my make up artist was brill. she asked me what time of day we were getting married, was i planning to have outside photos and lastly what make up did i envisage . We were having a hollywood themed wedding and my dress was pink, she did a great job! she even asked to see the dress, for the colouring. I choose her because she asked lots of questions, asked me what colour my dress was (the other two ladies i met didnt ask and both assumed i wanted barely there, bridal make up, ( i didnt, i wanted full on hollywood glamour). she even asked me if i had seen any photos of bridal or other makeup that i liked and did them for me to help me choose.
I dont know if this helps but i thought I would tell you what made me choose her so you could have a brides point of view. good luck and am certain it'll go brilliantly tigi |

hi tigi -

thank tigi .. some great advice there
as a recent bride myself, i know how important it is to feel that your "supplier" is interested in the whole theme, right down to the tiniest detail, so i plan to ask plenty of questions myself - and ask that the bride brings to the trial magazine pictures of make up she likes, samples of fabric, etc .. this will also save time, enabling me to concentrate on producing the look she really wants! i basically trained to become a mua because i was so disapointed with the lack of mua in my area, and the one i did eventually hire (id left it too late and all the goodens were booked) wasnt exactly brilliant, in fact she was a hair dresser who happened to do make up, not a proper mua - i think she might have done one of those one day courses, i think i knew more about make up than her - when i asked her about shading, she just looked at me blankly her kit was what i now know to be a standard college make up kit, and in fact after she did the base i insisted on doing did my own eyes .. i felt awful, but i just wanted to get it right, in her defense she did a nice job with my hair though, just wasnt really qualified to call herself a bridal mua your hollywood wedding sounds really glam - you must have had a ball, do you have any pics - perhaps you could email them to me, would love to see your make up, did the bridesmaids also have hollywood make up? and were all the guests dressed up for the part also? |

yes would be more than happy to how you the pics of my dress etc. we gave out oscars for best dressed, sexiest shoes etc. it was a great night.
My bridesmaid were not made up really as they were 10 and 12 , they did have a bit of make up on though. my chief bridesmaid was made up by someone else as we had alast minute disaster with my dress and she had to go and get it from the cleaners. most of my guests dressed the part and it was a fabby night. more then happy to show you the pics as they are great. tigi |
